I groaned, hearing my alarm go off. I hate getting up for school. I hate school. I hate everyone there too, well, almost everyone.
I got out of bed and gathered my clothes and headed to the shower. I turned on the hot water and stepped in. The hot water feels good on my aching body, stinging when it ran down over my forearms.
Last nights events replaying in my head. I heard a knock at the door, making me jump a little. "Are you just about done? We are going to be late!" My brother, Harry, yelled through the door.
I shut the water off, "yeah, I'll be out in a few minutes." I got dressed quickly and slid my hoodie on before walking out. "You ready?" I asked, walking to my room and grabbing my bag.
"I've been ready. I've just been waiting on you." He said chuckling. "Now let's go before you think of something else to do." He sighed, "more like, let's go before dad wakes up." He said, holding the door open for me. I walked out with him, and we started our long walk to school.
Hi, I'm Emilia Styles. I have one brother, Harry. Our mum passed away about three years ago, and our dad has taken up drinking, and has become abusive towards me, but only when Harry isn't around. He says I look too much like mum. Harry does too, but dad won't touch him. I self-harm for escape, but Harry doesn't know. Harry has become my best friend, and only person I can trust. I tell him about everything. Well besides about my cutting, and dad abusing me. I can't tell him that, dad would hurt him too.
"Here we are." Harry sighed next to me. "Another day in hell." He said. We walked into the school, quickly met by his friends. I sat around with them, not really paying much mind to them. "I'll talk to you later, Em. We need to get to class." Harry said bringing me from my thoughts.
"Okay, see you later." I said quietly, making my way to my first class.
The day was going by slowly, and for that I am grateful. It's just after second classes, I'm walking to find Harry since we have the next class together, and I hear yelling and laughing in the hall I was about to turn to walk down. I stopped at the end to see a crowd of people circled around two people.
I walked to the group and saw Donny, the school bully, picking on someone. I didn't recognize who he was though. He looked terrified. "I just want to go to my class. Please just leave me alone." The guy said. Donny won't. "I didn't even do anything to you. I'm new here. Please can you just pick a different day?" He asked. I noticed how shaky his voice was.
I felt a hand grab my wrist and pulling me back. I cringed from the pain, but my body spun around quickly to see Harry. "Who is it today?" He asked, referring to the event in front of us. "Is he new? I don't recognize him." Harry said, looking over at them.
"Yeah. He said he just got here today." I told Harry, looking back at them. I looked at Donny, who started moving in on the other guy. I knew where this was going. I looked at the new guy, who was up against the lockers. Terrified. I heard Harry sigh next to me. I can't let this happen.
"Donny. That's enough!" I yelled.
"What are you doing?" Harry's head shot to me. "Are you crazy?" He whispered.
I was watching Donny. He stopped and looked around. "Who said that?" He yelled. The crowd moved so I was in full view of Donny. "Oh? Would you like to repeat that? Styles?" He said walking towards me.
I wasn't about to back down. I've had enough of him. "Yeah. Actually I would." I said. I stood up straighter and looked him in the eyes. "I said. That. Is. Enough." His face wasn't far from mine now. He didn't scare me. I felt Harry tense next to me, but I knew he wasn't going to leave me alone. He was too protective.
"No one tells me when enough is enough." He said. "I'm the one who decides when enough is enough." He was getting angrier every second I didn't give up.
I looked over at his victim who still looked terrified, but like everyone else, wasn't missing anything. I looked Donny in the eyes again. "I do believe. That I just did." I whispered.
Donny gripped my arms in his big hands. "Now listen here you little-"
"Get your hands off of my sister." I heard Harry yell next to me. Donny wasn't letting up. "Right now Donny, or so help me you won't have hands in the next thirty seconds." He yelled. Donny instantly let go. "Good. Now I do believe she told you that was enough. Now I suggest you get going." He hissed.
Donny glared at me for a few seconds before turning around and storming off, pushing the people in his way. "This isn't over!" He yelled, turning the corner.
"Damn Harry. Thanks." I said giving him a hug. I turned around to find the new guy, but he was already gone. As was the rest of the crowd. "Come on. Let's get the rest of the day over with." I sighed.
Harry laughed, knowing no matter where we went, it was still going to be hell for us.
So I'm gonna start writing this story, I'm still having writer's block on the other one. If you liked this chapter and want me to write more, please let me know. If you didn't like it, let me know about that. I can take some criticism I know it will never be as good as your favorite stories, but it's worth a shot. Haha. Thanks
