*Emilia's POV*
"Please look at me." Liam said quietly.
I folded my hands in my lap. Clearing my throat, I slowly turned to face him. "I'm sorry." I mumbled.
He shook his head. "Did I hurt you?" He took another small step closer.
"No." I said looking at him. "I was already hurt." I quickly covered my mouth.
That was not supposed to be said.
Liam knelt down in front of me. "What do you mean?" His voice full of worry.
I pulled my arms closer to myself without thinking. "N-Nothing. Forget I ever said it." I pleaded.
Liam sighed and reached for my hands. "Emilia. You don't have to hide anything from me. You know I won't judge you." He said softly.
I nodded and thought for a minute. I guess I could tell him... But he will be hurt... I don't want him to be hurt... Especially by me.
If I don't tell him, he could find out another way, and that would make it harder.
I sighed deeply. "Do you remember that super hot day after school?" I asked. He nodded. "And you remember I didn't want to take my jacket off?" I asked. He nodded again. "Well, there is a reason for that." I said quietly.
"Emilia?" The look in his eyes tells me he knows where this is going.
"The day I pulled Niall from the lunch room and came back with his jacket on?" I asked.
He nodded. "The day he pulled on your arm, and you cried in pain, and he said 'sorry' a thousand times?" He asked.
"Yeah." I whispered.
I waited for him to say something. Anything.
Nothing.
I pulled my hands from his, and slowly unzipped the jacket. "Wait." He said quietly. I stopped and kept looking at him. "How bad is it?"
I shrugged. "Not too bad." I said. I finished unzipping the jacket.
"Wait!" Liam stopped me again, placing his hands over mine. "You uh, you don't have to show me." He whispered.
I took that as his nice way of telling me he didn't want to see. I nodded understandingly, zipping my jacket up again. "I'm sorry, Liam." I said quietly. I felt tears pool at the bottom of my eyes, and a lump grow in my throat.
Liam moved to sit completely on the ground and pulled me onto his lap. I buried my face into his neck. "Sh. You don't need to say sorry to me. Just tell me you'll stop." He said, rubbing my back soothingly.
I nodded, although I know I can't promise anything.
--
"Okay class! Today is THE day!" Mr. Smith announced as he walked into the room. "Anyone willing to go first?" He smiled.
I had to cover my laugh with an awkward cough as Taylor threw her hand up quickly. "We want to go first!" She nearly jumped from her seat. "Come on, Harry!" She grabbed his arm and pulled him to the front.
Harry groaned while Taylor plopped down at the piano and started playing their song.
I was at least able to control my laughter, unlike Niall, who couldn't do anything but laugh while Taylor gave her everything, and Harry gave maybe one percent. I glanced at Liam to see he too was holding in his own laughter.
All too soon, the song came to an end. Harry stood up and walked back to his seat, crossing his arms when he sat down. "Who's next?" Mr. Smith asked as Harry took his phone out.
I felt my phone buzz moments later as Mr. Smith told Jade, and a laughing Niall to go next. I pulled my phone out once the song started.
From Harold: "Never again..."
I took a quick glance at him, he sat smiling at Niall and Jade's performance as they sang together.
To Harold: "But you looked like you were having such a great time."
I sent the message and watched the rest of the performance. Niall and Jade were actually really good. I didn't recognize the song they sang, but you could tell they both put all of their passion into the song.
The song ended and Niall placed a kiss to Jade's cheek, making her blush deeply. He chuckled, slipping his hand into hers as they went to sit down next to Louis and Macy.
"Want to go next?" Liam asked quietly next to me. "Or should we wait?"
"Uh." I looked around and saw Zayn whisper something into Perrie's ear. "Maybe we should wait. It looks like Zayn and Perrie might go next." I said, gesturing to them with my thumb.
Liam nodded and looked over at them as they stood up and made their way to the front of the room.
The song started extremely slow.
I leaned over and rested my head on Liam's shoulder as the song continued. "Are you okay?" I heard Liam whisper.
I shrugged and closed my eyes, listening to Zayn and Perrie's angel-like voices blend together. "I'm a bit tired, to be honest." I said quietly. "Can we go tomorrow?"
"Of course." He nodded and slung his arm around me, pulling me a bit closer into him.
I felt myself drift in and out of sleep during the rest of class. My phone buzzed once class ended. I pulled away from Liam and took my phone out, reading the text.
From Dad: "I really hate to ask, but will you make dinner tonight? The Payne's are coming over since Geoff and I will be headed off tomorrow night."
To Dad: "Yeah, of course. Any requests?"
"Hey Em. Are you going to practice with us tonight?" Niall asked before turning to peck Jade's lips before she left.
"Actually, I can't today. I'm cooking tonight. Liam and his family are coming over tonight, so dad asked me to make something." I said, taking my phone out to read the text I just received.
From Dad: "Anything you like. Tell Niall to go home tonight, but we love him anyway."
I let out a loud laugh and handed Niall my phone to read the message.
"Ouch. That's rough." Harry laughed, reading over Niall's shoulder while Niall pouted.
"Well then." Niall huffed, handing my phone back to me and glancing at Liam. "I see I've been replaced."
I laughed loudly and patted Niall on the head. "It'll be okay, Ni. You'll be back tomorrow night."
"Damn right I will be." He said before laughing. "You staying, Liam?"
"I could." Liam shrugged. "Unless you want some help with dinner?"
"Nah." I smiled, looking over at Harry. "I know what I'm going to make. Go on and hang with the guys."
"What are you making?" Harry asked, throwing his arm around my shoulder.
I sent a small smile. "You'll see." I leaned over and stood on my toes to kiss his cheek. "Have fun at practice. I'll see you guys later." I said, picking up my bag and leaving the school.
