"Bye. Thanks for the ride." Liam said as he walked the short distance to his house.
"No problem. See you tomorrow." Harry said sending him a wave as we walked to the front steps. "Well that was fun." He said turning to me.
"Yeah. I missed hanging out with you guys after school at practice. I just hope Niall lets his ankle rest." I smile.
Harry took the keys from his pocket and unlocked the front door. "Yeah. I doubt it. You know how he is." He said as he pushed the front door open.
Dad stood, leaning against the wall, glaring at me the second I walked in. "Where have you been? I sent you a message an hour ago to come home to make dinner." He half shouted.
"Calm down dad. We can just order a pizza or something." Harry suggested, standing protectively in front of me.
He continued to glare at me. "No. She can go start dinner. It will just be an hour late."
I rolled my eyes walking passed them and into the kitchen. I searched the cabinets and fridge until I found things to put a meal together with, and started.
"Smells good Em." I heard Harry say while I stirred the food in front of me.
"Thanks." I mumbled. "I didn't even get a message from him." I told Harry as I turned around.
"I didn't either. I wouldn't worry about anything though. He's just drunk." Harry said giving me a small hug.
I waited for him to leave the room to continue dinner. "Yeah. You never have anything to worry about... I do... Especially when he is drunk." I mumbled to myself.
--
"Hey... Hey Em. Hey Emilia.. Hey E-"
"What Niall?" I asked annoyed.
Harry asked him to come over earlier so he could do some shopping for dad. Who happened to become more drunk since we got home, and Harry didn't want me left home alone with him. Which I was grateful for, but Niall has been on my last nerve for an hour.
He's sat next to me on my bed while I do my homework... Or trying to at least. "When is Harry getting home?" He asked.
"I don't know. Why don't you call and ask him?" I said with a sigh.
"Okay." He replied. He pulled out his phone and limped out of the room when Harry answered.
I took the time he was out to push the sleeves of my sweater up. I was burning up, but I don't want Niall to see my arms. He would tell Harry about it for sure. And I don't need Harry to worry about me more than he already does.
I pushed my sleeves down when I heard Niall coming back towards my room. I wrote down an answer to a math question as he entered with a frown on his face.
"What's up? Why the long face?" I asked when he sat down.
"Nothing." He replied coldly.
I chuckled. "Don't lie. I'm not stupid."
Niall looked at me. "Yes you are. Now hush. Do that homework young lady." He said, now smiling.
I shoved him playfully. "Don't call me stupid. I'm not the one who is barely passing to stay on the football team." I joked.
"Hey!" Niall yelled, and pushed me off the bed, causing me to land on my back. He leaned over. "That's mean. My grades are-" He suddenly quieted and starred at me with wide eyes.
"Niall?" I asked quietly.
"When?" He whispered.
I gave him an odd look. "Ni, what are you talking about?"
He slid off the bed and sat on top of me, with his legs on either side of me. He grabbed hold of my hand, and that's when I realized what he was talking about. He saw them.
"When did you do this?" He asked, slowly pushing up my right sleeve.
I pulled my arm back and pushed my sleeve back down. "Everyday." I replied. My voice cracking as tears formed in my eyes. "Please Niall. You can't tell anyone."
"Not even Harry?" He asked.
I shook my head quickly and looked in his eyes. Tears in his eyes too. "Especially not Harry."
--
"Hey Liam." I smiled as I walked up to Liam, who waited at the end of my driveway.
"Hey. Ready for another day of hell?" He asked.
I raised my eyebrows at him. "You mean school?"
He shrugged. "Same thing." He said with a chuckle.
I chuckled with him and fixed my bag on my shoulder. "How was your night?" I asked.
I heard him sigh. “It was alright. My parents just kept me up half the night with some lecture I zoned out of as soon as it started." He replied. "What about you?"
I thought for a moment while we continued to walk to the school. I can't decide whether Niall finding out would make it a good night, or a bad night.
"I guess it was okay. My dad was drunk, so Harry made Niall come over while he was out. So I didn't get all my work done, because Niall kept bugging me."
He chuckled. We made small talk the rest of the way to school. I groaned as it got close too soon.
Liam laughed next to me. "Ready for another day full of a lot of fun?" He asked with false enthusiasm, making me actually laugh, as we walked into school
