I miss you, Carly.

More weeks passed, and I realized that I had barely talked to my sister since I left-I had been really busy. I knew that wasn't a great excuse though, so I grabbed my laptop and headed up to my room to email her a nice letter-I knew she was curious because she texted me almost every day, but always during class, and so we would never be on our phones at the same time.

When I opened the door, Drake was sitting on his bed with his earphones in, and he was moving his head and mouth along to the music. Next to him was a bag of Pixie Sticks. He had a new bag of candy every couple of days. He smiled at me and offered a stick while pouring another one into his mouth. I shook my head, kinda laughed, and laid on my stomach, pulling up Microsoft and writing my sister.

Carly,

Sorry for not writing you sooner. I've had more homework than I thought I would. The classes aren't horribly hard, but wow, they know how to torture us with work. How are you?Any boys you've picked up lately? Please don't tell me you've been dating Braedon. You could do so much better, and you know that.

How is Aunt Lina? Is work going well for her? And how is your senior year going? Been to any good parties lately? Sorry for bombarding you with questions. I miss hearing from you. I miss home. It's not horrible here, and most of my classmates are nice, but you know what they say: there's no place like home.

Well, I have a nice roommate. His name's Drake. Yep, you caught on, he's the one I spent "closet time" with. You know we didn't actually do anything, right? He pretended for me. Anyways, he's been here for three years. I think you'd like him. He has almost as much energy as you do. Nevermind. I'm not sure anyone could compare. He's showed me around and helped me out a lot, though. He has nice friends, too. And he's hilarious and the weirdest person I know (besides you, of course).

One thing nice about being here is there's always something to do. Aunt Lina told me so, but I guess I didn't believe her. Well, she was right. If it's not homework, then it's going to the pool or hanging out in your doorm or with friends. We don't have too much free time, either, so I don't get bored often. In fact, I don't think I've thought about mom or Dad a whole lot the past couple weeks. At least, not like I used to. There's a

I stopped typing and jumped when I looked over my shoulder to see Drake reading the screen from his bed. I didn't close the laptop all the way, but enough so that he couldn't read it. I looked over again and he was looking around, lip syncing, like he had no idea that I saw him. "Drake? This is for my sister, I'd rather you not read it," I said as kindly as I could. He looked at me and smiled, then said, "You really think I'm a nice person?" as he nodded towards the laptop. I nodded, and smiled, and said "Yeah, you're a good friend of mine." He smiled, nodded, said "Thanks," and laid down, closing his eyes. I don't think he stopped smiling until break was over.
