Blue Sunglasses
The next day, before the last bell, Drake dragged me by the arm over to an empty space in the hall.
"Want to go out somewhere tonight? It's Friday, so you'll have homework time when you come back. Plus I'm hanging out with some people during break, so you'll have that time too. I think we both need to get out of this place," he smiled hopefully at me.
"Yeah, of course," I replied. And he smiled even bigger, if that was possible.
He nodded and smiled, pulling a couple skittles out of his pocket and throwing them into his mouth. That damn kid and his candy. It was as if he could read my thoughts because he stuck his tongue out at me and threw a purple skittle at me, and giggled when it hit my cheek. I shook my head and fought back a laugh as I walked to my last class, so nobody would ask what was so funny-they probably wouldn't understand.

It was almost the end of dinner. I had gone upstairs early to check my email, which was empty besides junk mail from my teachers. I realized then that it was empty because I hadn't written my sister back yet. I decided to put a new shirt on, a warmer one, since it really wasn't all that warm outside. I pulled a green sweater over my head and frowned because it didn't match my shoes. I guess I was changing shoes, too. I sighed to myself for my outfit OCD. Carly had put a whole bunch of outfits together, but my clothes had been all jumbled up after I wore all the outfits. I wished she was here to help me out.
I jumped at the sound of the door swinging open. He always scares the hell out of me. Sometimes I wonder if he does it on purpose, just for the fun of it. I turned my head around, still putting my shoes on, and he smiled and said, "Ready?" as he tossed his car keys up and down in his right hand. I nodded, grabbed a hoodie just in case, and smiled bitter-sweetly when I realized it was the same hoodie I had laid over my sister the night of the party.
Drake had a nice car. Small, but nice. He had about ten key chains hanging on his front mirror, and his dashboard had a bright blue lining, the color of his braces. There was a little cup board in between the two front seats, and he popped it open to grab his blue sun glasses. I'm not sure why he needed them, because he had a perfectly good pull-down shade for the driver's seat right in front of him. Maybe he just liked how he looked in them. He noticed me examining his personalized car and smiled, starting it up. "Beautiful day, huh?" he smiled, looking at the sky. I laughed and said, "You say that every day." He smiled and said, "Only because it's true. Anything you look at can be beautiful if you learn to see it that way." We exchanged glances, and drove in silence until we finally got to where he was wanting to take me.
