Saturday and Clicking "Open"

Carly's POV

I LOVE SATURDAYS. I slept in until about two in the afternoon, before I heard the notification bell on my laptop go off. I lifted the lid and saw an email from Jay. It had been at least a week or two since I've gotten one from him. Smiling, I clicked the email and a decently-sized email popped up. I rubbed my eyes, blinked a few times, and started to read his letter, clicking "Open."

Carly,

Drake decided he was going to take me out tonight. He chose Friday because he knows about me and my need to actually do homework assignments...

I rolled my eyes and smiled. Jay had always been such a nerd.

... I'm in his car right now and have absolutely no idea where we're headed. But it's Drake, so I know he wouldn't surprise me with something I won't like. It's weird, because he usually is singing along to one of his hundreds of favorite bands. I think he's just being polite...

...I hope you're still enjoying your senior year. Don't go to too many parties, okay?...

Jay, going to parties is 80% of what "senior year" means.

... I've been worried about you and parties since you got really sick at the first one. Do you still talk to Braedon? And what's Josh like?...

Josh is amazing, cute, funny...

...Tell me all about him. If you do date him, be careful, okay? I'm not trying to sound like some overly-protective little brother...

Well, that's exactly what you sound like. I smiled.

...But I do love you. Also, I know Aunt Lina is busy a lot with work, but could you tell her I love her?...

...Drake ended up taking me to a park and it was actually really nice. I never thought I'd say this, but we watched a sunset together and it was a very beautiful one...

I still think he's gay.

...He said he goes there a lot when he needs to think, but I think he meant he used to, because I haven't seen him leave the dorm in awhile until that night...

...Anyways, the following Monday I got a girl friend...

I nearly lost control of my place because I was shaking the laptop and smiling crazily. Oh my god, oh my God.

... Yep, a girlfriend. Her name is Rosie, but we aren't together anymore. She broke up with me after a week, and honestly I was kind of glad. It was a sucky way to break up. Drake took us to a party and I had closet time with a drunken girl. Well, "closet time". She mostly just attempted to assault me and then slapped me and slammed me against a wall. I got two slaps from Rosie after that....

Damn, Jay, slap those biotches back.

...But it's okay, Drake cheered me up. He always does. He was even able to make me laugh uncontrollably after I had been alone thinking about mom and dad. I told him he was my best friend at the party, because he is.

I think I might finally be getting better about my thinking. And even if the thoughts come back, Drake usually pulls me out of them and makes me forget everything that isn't happy. I love that about him. Oh, you were right about him being gay. He shouted it out the car window on the way to the party. Is that why you insisted that we had "closet time"? Because you thought he was gay? Well, you're right...

"YES!" I fist pumped then went back to reading.

...I don't mind at all, I just thought I'd let you know so you can rub it in my face that you were right...

I will definitely do that, Jay.

...Well, write me back. I miss you. I'm coming home for Christmas break, so I'll see you in two weeks. Can't wait.

-Jay

I grinned, shut the laptop and hugged it, overwhelmed with the excitement of seeing my brother again.
