No one ever likes going to school. Everyone hates having to wake up so early in the morning for classwork and books.
Sure, I don't like having all this work piled up in front of me either, but I also enjoy every second I can ever have away from home.
There's so many things I do here that I would never do at home. I usually just sit alone in my room with all the lights turned off, listening to music, thinking about everything. But the moment I walk through these doors, the moment I make it through these hallways, I'm different. I'm not a nobody around here, and it feels good being somebody.
I hide behind a plaid shirt, a gray beanie, and tight wristbands. No one truly knows what I'm hiding, and I plan to keep it that way.
"Calum!" I could hear my name being called through the hall. I know that voice anywhere.
I quickly stopped in my tracks, and turned to find a smiling Ashton looking back at me.
Ashton is my best friend here, and I honestly could never live without him. He speaks for me and always knows what to say. He's my voice, and I very much appreciate it. He's the only one here who truly knows me.
Though I never get to say that to him.
"Calum, hey." He says nicely. He used the tone that always made me feel warm, and it always made me happy for some reason.
I gave him a big smile as I waved at him, and I noticed the way his eyes lit up, and how he tucked his hands in his pockets.
If I were to ever speak again, it would probably be because of this guy.
There's something about him.
There's something different about each and every individual who walks through these corridors.
Ashton Irwin... The brains. The dork, the geek, the nerd. He's that guy that some people run to for help, and that others make fun of. He's the one who's always taken advantage of, but when you get to know, can never be taken for granted. You look closer, and see a guy with so much humor, who just happens to be intelligent, and all he wants is to be understood.
Ashley Frangipane... Known as Halsey. The nickname. The girl that has a different name than the one on her own birth certificate. She's the girl that would much rather hang out with the guys than the girls. The life of the party, the color. Yet, when you look deeper, you see a girl who wants to fit in like the rest of us, but who never liked the gender she was.
And here comes Michael Clifford.
The entertainment. The class clown. He's the one with the clever remarks, ready to be thrown out there. He's the smart mouth, the attraction. He's the highlight. The guy that changes his hair color every month. But when you get to know him, he's just a sweet kitten who only acts tough, because he doesn't want to get hurt.We all have a different story, but no one ever thinks about what kind of stories you can find in one place. They don't understand the nature of the existence of the people around them. Most of what we understand today is based on style and the way we look, and what no one sees, is that we're all hiding behind something. I like to think that we all have something that we just have to live with, but we also have someway of hiding it. We hide it with our own perfect disguises.
But then there's Luke Hemmings... The one without a disguise. The looks, the charm, the bisexual player. The snob, the bragger. The one who gives himself away too much, and let's everyone know his life story. He's the one who shares everything with the world. Revolves around pity, attention, popularity, and lust.
There's always a different person in his arms, and he figures out everyone he meets. He can get to every single one of them, with the snap of his fingers.
Well, almost. I won't let him fool me.
He won't ever figure me out, and will never get to me.
