The mall was busy. Busier than Maddy's dad's café which- to (Y/n), was incredibly busy. At least a thousand people on each floor with 10 floors to top it off, it was easy to get lost. "The San Fransokyo Concourse is three streets away!" Honey Lemon yelled over the loud screams of nearby people. "This building is only 5 years old and quite new!"
The group of six agreed to go to the highest floor, Hiro providing a point that the higher the floor, the less populated it was.
The main floor was made of white tiles, so clean (Y/n) could see her reflection in it. "Quick! Don't step on the cracks!" Fred called, hopping from tile to tile, avoiding the gaps between them.
"You're so on!" Hiro called, following in action. "First to step on a line loses!" And that's how (Y/n) found herself playing such a childish game in the middle of a shopping mall, passing people either moved away or cheered them on as they all stumbled to a comic book store.
(Y/n) smiled, no one cared that they were doing such childish things, no one blew off their steam or judged them for being too old to play such games. "You guys are such kids!" (Y/n) laughed as she jumped to another tile.
"Okay new rule, you have to hold your breath when on white tiles!" Honey called. So a new rule was added. (Y/n) didn't know what was making her feel so happy but she was glad she was.
"How come you guys play this games? Without shame or any self-awareness or stuff?" she grinned.
"In our group, we still have Fred and Hiro who occasionally do these things so, if either of those two kids play, we join to make them feel better." (Y/n) laughed at Gogo's statement. Hiro didn't seem to hear that he was called a kid but (Y/n) suspected that if he did, he would probably blow of his head.
"Not to mention," Honey Lemon cut in, "Adults- which Gogo, Wasabi and I are, are really just children with new bodies." (Y/n) thought about her sentence.
"Adults are children with new bodies...that actually makes sense... because some people believe that since you look different, you have to change... adults are just children who refuse to change." With that in her head, (Y/n) followed the group around, entering hair salons, sports stores, comic book shops and others, marvelling at how well the group got along. She didn't really mind the fact that they hadn't gone anywhere in her particular interest, she even didn't mind where they went for lunch.
"Are you sure you don't wanna pick what we have for lunch?" Honey asked worriedly, "You just seem to be following us around! I really think you should choose! Besides, this can be for a special event, your return!" the others but Gogo cheered as the girl stood awkwardly. Looking around, (Y/n) could see a dozen places to eat, how could she choose just ONE? And one that would make EVERYONE happy!?
She eyed every single place, hesitating before answering. She wasn't too sure why but the one place that kept screaming at her was the Japanese Teppanyaki restaurant directly in front of them. "Okay..." She said uncertainly, "Let's go there." She pointed to the desired location as Fred gasped dramatically.
"Woah! What a coincidence, Hiro ALWAYS makes us go there! Why did you choose it?" (Y/n) blinked rapidly as she tried to process the information.
"Really?" Thoughts swam in her mind and refused to leave her, "I just had a nagging in the back of my head that was praying I chose this place." (Y/n) went silent as the gang entered the restaurant. (Y/n) didn't speak a word until Honey Lemon took it upon herself to address the girl.
"(Y/n)? You okay? You haven't spoken since we told you about the strange coincidence which, in my opinion is super cute I mean, you guys were made for each other!" The girl blocked out the rest of what the blonde was saying, shaking her furiously as the gang watched.
