Chapter 18

The next night Henry and I walk the streets of Storybrooke as I have my arm around his shoulder. We listen to the sounds of the crickets and watch the stars above us.

"Mom, do you ever look at the stars?" Henry asks as he looks up gazing into the sky.

"Not really. But now that I do...I've never noticed how beautiful they were," I say as my voices echoes in the distance as I rub his shoulder.

"Echo," Henry states.

"Excuse me?" I say confused and curious.

"The baby's name. Echo. Bold name but also elegant," Henry says and finishes," Echo."

"I will keep that name in mind, Henry," I say looking at Henry's face before hugging him.

We arrive at the door step of my house as I see Robin and Roland sitting on the couch. Roland slowly drifting off the sleep when he catches sight of Henry and me.

"Mom! Henry!" Roland screams as he runs to me and hugs me then Henry.

"Mom! I've been wanting to go to your vault today. Please," Roland asks with a grin on his face.

"Why do you want to go to the vault? Where did you calling me mommy go? Why are you calling me mom?" I ask curious and suspiciously.

"I need to um get a toy. And I always call you mom don't I?" Roland says with a smile.

I look into Roland's eyes. They were as black as the night sky. Not brown as they were before. I take a step back and appear a fireball in my hand,"Where is Roland? Where is MY Roland? You are not my Roland!" I say sternly.

"Regina!" Robin screams to me as he runs over infront of Roland," What are you doing? This is Roland! He just wants to spend time with you. Take him to your vault please Regina...put down the fire."

I lower my hand as I watch Roland's eyes change from black to brown and back to black," Okay.....Roland. Let's go to the vault. Henry can you go upstairs please and clean your room."

Henry nods as he rolls his eyes slightly and runs up the white staircase to his room.

As I walk Roland to my vault we descend down the staircase and enter my office. I look at the walls as I hold Roland's hands and look back at him as he keeps looking around for something.

"What are you looking for?" I ask curiously.

"It's over here," he whispers and runs off to the kitchen.

He runs into the other room where I can't see him. I walk slowly to the room. As I turn the corner I see Roland. He picks up the Apple Pie I left in my refrigerator. It looks as if It was cooked it yesterday. It couldn't stay fresh for this long. Unless.

"Roland, Don't eat that it's pois-," I stop as he clenches his teeth into the pie and falls to the floor.

My heart beats a thousand times as I run over to Roland. I check his heart beat as it slows and gets slower.

I quickly run into my office and grab my phone on the desk," Robin! I scream into the phone! It's Roland! Come to my vault now!"

"What happe-" Robin says before I hang up the phone.

I run back into the room to see Roland. I looks down at my red dress and back up at him slightly. I see a dark figure standing above him being released from his body and turns around to bite Roland on the wrist.

"Get away from my son!" I say as I throw a fireball at the figure and makes the figure runs through the halls and out the vault.

I run to Roland and start to shake him and sob quietly," Roland. Wake up! Please." I lay my head on his chest as his heart completely stop and I start to sob even more.

"Regina?" Robin says as he looks down at Roland laying in the floor," What did you do!?"

"I didn't do this. He he was-" I stop as Robin starts," Is he dead? Did you kill him Regina?"

"I didn't kill him. But I don't know if he is alive," I start to sob.

Robin looks back at Roland and says," Come back to me please!"

A tear falls off of Robins face and onto Roland's cheek as he lowers his head and says," Goodbye my little hood."

"Goodbye? You just got here," Roland says as he flutters his eyes open.

"Roland!" Robin and I say in unison as we both try to hug him once he gets on his feet.

"Don't get near my son you beast," Robin says as he looks at me in a mean way," I still don't know if you did this."

"I didn't look at his wrist. I didn't do this. I saw what happened," I say as Robin looks at Roland wrist to see a bite mark which then turns into a broken heart with barb wire around it.

"Get away from my son," Robin says as he looks back up at me.

"Oh Robin!" I say as I lay my hand on my stomach and he screams as me," Leave!"

I run out of the vault as I look back at Roland.

Roland then tells Robin," She didn't do it. I did. I couldn't control it. Something took over. I felt it bite me. I felt like happiness was sucked out of me when it was in me."

Robin eyes widen as he runs after me and screams," Regina!"

We stop at the bottom of the stairs as Robin catches me," Regina. Please don't leave."

I turn around in tears as I hold a knife in my other hand and the other on my stomach," Robin, I can't live without you."

"Regina put it down," He grabs my knife and finishes," Come here."

I walk down a few stairs as Robin embraces me in a hug as I cry on his shoulder. Roland runs up behind up and starts to hug us. We open our arms and let him closer to us.

"I love you, mommy," Roland says as I smile at the word mommy.

"I love you to Roland," I start and then finish," and I will find out who did this to you."
