Chapter 42

"So How about you and Stone everything working out?" I ask Zelena winking hoping she knows what I'm talking about. 

"Mother knows," Zelena laughs and then finishes," and we decided to wait a few months or so for Rose to get comfortable with us before adding someone else....so she doesn't feel replaced."

"Good," I nod my head.

They tell me they have cooked food in the kitchen as for I can smell it from the living room just waiting till I can go eat it. They tell me to help myself.

As they stay seated on the couch, I stand up and waddle my way to the kitchen. When I get in the doorway between the two rooms, I feel a huge pain shoot through my back and to my stomach. I grab the doorway as I cry in pain. Mother and Zelena rush to my side as I start to hold my stomach tightly.

"Ahhh!" I scream,"I freaking hate these damn Braxton Hicks!"

Mother grabs my hips from behind and turns me around to look me in the eye," I don't think these are Braxton Hicks. They don't make you scream out loud as much as that. How long have you been having these "Braxton Hicks"? Have they been getting worse?"

I open my eyes clenching my teeth," Since this morning and yes! They hurt more every time, but they are just Braxton Hic---"

I am stopped when a rush of pain overcomes my body once more when Zelena catches me from falling and stands me back up. Rose comes running into the living room when Mother rushes over and grabs her and locks Rose in her room to keep her out. I hear Mother telling Rose to stay in her room and keep playing that we were "fighting" from the screams.

Mother comes rushing back to the doorway when I feel the pain ease ,but a wet liquid runs down my inner leg all the way down to the floor and creates a puddle.

"Zelena?" I scream as she helps me stand on my feet.

"Your water just broke, Regina," Zelena tells me as she tries to help me over to the couch. Mother goes and grabs a towel to lay it on the couch as I sit on it.

"We need to get you to the hospital, my dear," Mother tells me as I sit up on the couch in pain.

"No..No.. I can barely move," I say whining holding my stomach.

Zelena pushes my body forcing me to lay down on the couch with my legs kicked up on the other side. I lay on the arm of the chair aching in excruciating pain.

"I've been a midwife before, Mother, I'm going to check how she is doing okay? I need to see if we could possibly make it to the hospital or not," Zelena says as I have tears forming in my eyes when the contraction goes away and relieves a little pain," Regina, I'm going to need you to take off your undergarments...I have to check and see what is happening or this baby may not live."

I quickly take off my underwear and lay then beside me so nobody will see them. Zelena kicks up my legs and spreads them apart leaving my dress over my knees hoping to make me feel comfortable. But this...THIS couldn't ever be comfortable. 

I see her put on a glove from the cabinet and feel around as I lay my head down with my hands rubbing my stomach. I see her come back up from under my dress and say," Regina...you're 8 centimeters dilated. This baby is going to be here in only a few short minutes."

"I need Robin!" I scream out in pain as Mother grabs the phone and dials my house phone number to find Robin answer it.

Mother hands the phone over to me when I tell Robin crying," Come to my mothers house quick! Leave the boys at the house tell Tink to watch them! Please! Hurry!"

I hang up the phone before screaming out loudly once more," Mother! How did you do this let alone twice?"

"I never knew the answer to that. I just know that after all this pain it is worth it. It WILL be worth it."

I grab the pillow beside me hard as another contraction hits only 1 minute after the last," Why are they coming so fast?"

Zelena checks on me again and then comes up to say," Echo must really be wanting to meet her mommy. You're 10 centimeters dilated and she's coming fast."

Zelena sets up two chair in front of me only 4 feet apart from each other. She turns me around where I am sitting up normally on the couch but then places each foot on one of the chairs and then she kneels in between the two chairs.

She puts on two gloves and places a towel and blanket right beside her," Are you ready?"

I hold my breath in and shake my head," I need Robin."

"He will be here any second ,love,but this baby needs you. You have to start pushing," Mother tells me as for I've never done this before and I am so scared at this point.

Zelena looks at me as I look back at her and nod as she screams,"Push!"

I push and push while screaming from all the pain. I feel movement. Then a doorbell goes off. I watch as the door opens and Robin looks straight at me confused as ever. He turns the corner and looks in my direction as he starts to look a little lightheaded.

I scream for him and he runs over to my side and holds my hand as I squeeze it," I'm glad your here."

"Wouldn't miss it for the world my queen! Now let's have a baby," Robin tells me when Zelena tells me to push again.

I scream even louder when I feel something between my legs and Zelena says," There's the head. One more push and Echo will be here."

I scream once more as the last contraction hits and push with all my power when all of the pain just stops and then I hear a cry.

Zelena lifts up a baby and places it in my arms. A full head of black hair just like mine. Her eyes closed as she wiggles around and cries loudly but then stops as I lay her on my chest and she coos as my touch.

Zelena places my legs down right after Robin cuts the umbilical cord.

"Echo...." I say to my baby laying on my chest. She is perfect in every way.

"Our little Echo," Robin says as he touches her little hand as she grabs his finger. She then opens her eyes. She has Robins eyes. They are beautiful. This is my baby. My little Echo. I never thought this could happen to me.
