The final bell rang at precisely 3:00. Students hurried out of their seats, eager to get out this hell hole. I would've too. In fact I would've been the first on out of the history room's doors, but as life would have it, I was stuck her for another hour.
I sauntered out of the classroom and walked sulkily to my locker in the west wing. Mom will have my head for this.
Maybe I can sneak out.
Yeah that's a good idea. Just increase the risk of getting yourself in more trouble.
You again? Agh.
Come on. This time I'm right.
Well Mr. Boardshaw doesn't even show up for detentions. He takes attendance and then leaves until five minutes til 4.
Hmm. Maybe.
What the actual hell is wrong with me? People are going to think I'm crazy if they found out I talked to myself. But hey, my conscience is pretty smart.
I finally reached my locker at end of the row. People were still rushing around the hallways, frantically trying to escape. I sighed wishing I was apart of that rushing wave of energetic students.
Normally you don't need anything for detention except maybe homework that needs to be done. But otherwise, you can bring your backpack and other necessary materials.
I filled my bag with all my homework, which wasn't much, a book, and my drawstring. Everything else stayed where it was. Not like I need it or anything.
I quietly shut my locker and turned to see Lily doing the exact same thing across the hall. Coincidentally we turned around at the same time so now we were staring at each other with stupid grins. I chuckled and walked over to her.
"Well that was-" I started.
"Creepy," She finished. We both laughed.
"I was going to say funny but creepy works too."
"Oh," She smiled sheepishly. "So, how did the rest of your day go. Minus the whole Miss Cordium incident."
I breathed out and groaned, "Don't even get me started. I think everyone in the whole school knows about either Wes or Miss Cordium. It's all they're talking about."
She chuckled, "Don't be so down about it. I'm sure they'll forget about it tomorrow, it's not like you're going to associate with him or anything."
"Yeah. They would never let that go," I smiled and she returned it warmly.
"Yeah especially Bridget," Lil breathed out and looked around cautiously. It was almost as if she were worried that Bridget would pop around the corner and yell 'caught you bitching, bitch' and embarrass her in front of the whole school. Lily's kind of paranoid if you haven't noticed.
"What about Bridget?" My eyebrows crinkled and my voice sparked with curiosity.
"It's nothing big it's just that Bridget's had her eyes on Wes for a while now and she can't seem to get his attention," She kept looking around, "But when you snapped at him, he kind of started to pay attention to you. I saw him glance your way in the hall a couple times."
That was news to my ears. I mean, I'd heard about the whole Bridget-Wes thing but I didn't know Wes kept looking at me. Maybe he was just intimidated. I was the first girl to yell at him.
"Maybe he was just intimidated. I don't think he's used to be put in his place." I tried reasoning with Lil. For some reason it felt like I was trying more so to convince myself than Lily.
