Today was not a day I was looking forward to. It wasn't the fact that I had a study session with Wes, it's more so the fact of what tends to like to happen on Mondays. It seems that Mondays are days of events for me. Last Monday I met Wes, three Mondays ago I got my period, 3 years ago on a Monday my life changed forever. Is it just me or is there something up with Mondays.
Every Monday I wake up and just get a twisted feeling in my gut that makes me want to stay in bed and ensure that nothing happens. Of course, my life doesn't get to be that way.
This is how this Monday's gone so far. I woke up with a retched feeling in my gut and a splitting headache. That's the biggest sign that something was going to happen today.
I figured I'd face this Monday head on and ignore the twisted feeling in my gut, so I put on a brave face and French braided my hair. The outfit I'd picked out was simple and easy, hopefully not adding to my terrible feeling.
The rest of the day went smoothly after that. The normal morning routine; Lily picking me up for school, I go through hell, and now I sit waiting for the final bell. Shocking indeed.
After what seemed like hours of Miss Brinks talking, the shrill noise of the bell finally sounded. I was out of my seat quicker than Jared running from the Avenian King. My quick reaction guaranteed me the first spot out of the door.
Doors up and down the halls were beginning to open and students were spilling out like WICKED's secrets. I rushed out into the hallway pushing past straggling students that managed to make it out before me. The further down the hall I got, the more students there were.
I'd managed to make it halfway to my locker before the halls got really crowded. I shoved my way past a couple freshmen and sophomores who unsubtly gawked at me. Must be some rumors flying around me. Wonder what they are?
Finally, after bulldozing my way through students of all kinds, I reached my locker. I fished through everything, returning my drawstring and replacing it for my backpack, grabbing my calculus textbook, and extra literature books to help tutor Wes with. My backpack must weigh an extra 10 pounds with the weight of my extra literature books.
I quietly shut my locker and turned to see Lily still in her locker grabbing her homework and camera. I began to walk towards her when I saw a certain blonde making his way towards her as well. A smirk blossomed on my face until I remembered Wes' bet. Please don't be asking her out.
A sigh escaped my lips at how selfish and ridiculous I sounded. I wanted Lily to be happy not matter the price I formatted myself to. So, I put on a smile and walked over to my best friend and, hopefully, her crush.
"Hey, lovebirds," I said as I leaned against Lily's shut locker. A prominent pink found its way onto Lil's face and Mike smiled at the ground.
"Hi, Max," Mike said with a roll of his eyes. The grin, however, stayed on his face.
A Cheshire Cat grin spread across my face as I thought of a wicked thing to say. "And how's the- ya know- chemistry? Are you guys getting some sugar or something... sweeter?" Lily looked at me with a horrified expression, Mike wasn't that far behind. I cracked up laughing, holding my cramping sides.
"I-I'm just k-kidding," I said between gasps of breath. "Really though, how've you been, Mike."
Mike's face returned to normal and my past comment was forgotten. "Good. Wes still being a pain in the ass?"
