We were sat around the circular table at the pub, awaiting Gemma and Harry’s arrival. Niall and Maddie were browsing over a menu, Niall’s arm was resting on the back of Maddie’s chair, their faces just inches apart as they studied the menu. Laila had just headed to the bathroom leaving me and Liam to sit and chat. Liam seemed awkward, a little on edge.
“You okay Liam?” I asked him, resting my hand on his shoulder. He turned to look at me and nodded.
“Yeah, just a little apprehensive about what Harry’s going to be like,” he explained, his fingers fiddling with the napkin on the table. I gave him a small smile and patted his shoulder before placing my hands in my lap.
“He’ll be fine, I’m sure of it,” I assured him and Liam gave a small smile before clearing his throat.
“Speak of the devil,” I looked up to see Gemma and Harry entering, Gemma was wearing black skinny jeans and a white lace crop top, she looked stunning – as usual. Harry was dressed in black skinny jeans and a black t-shirt which clung to his tattooed arms, a paper plane necklace hung round his neck and I noticed the red swelling of his lip where he had got it pierced had gone down.
“Hi guys!” Gemma said enthusiastically, kissing Niall and Maddie on the cheek before giving me and Liam a small wave as she sat down next to Maddie. Harry wandered around the table to the only free seat which was between Niall and I, pulling the chair out he hung his leather jacket over the back of it before sitting down.
“Hi Jen,” he said.
Jen.
No one had ever called me Jen, my mum said it made my name sound sloppy, yet the way it rolled off Harry’s tongue in such a perfect way made me love it. I felt my cheeks blush a little as I thought about Harry’s tongue, thankfully a nudge from Liam distracted me from my thoughts enough to respond to Harry.
“Hey Harry, how are you?” I asked, passing him a menu which he took with a smile, his eyes flicking over the endless options.
“All the better for seeing you,” he said with a wink, I shoved him playfully with my elbow and he let out a quiet laugh, his eyes crinkling a little and his dimples becoming prominent. “No okay, yeah I’m good, tired but good, how are you?” he enquired, setting his menu down on the table.
“Pretty good, settling in really well,” I smiled, he returned my smile before turning to Niall and muttering something which caused Niall to slap him on his back and laugh as they continued to converse.
“Take a picture, you could put it on a dartboard, or your wall, either one,” Liam smirked; I slapped his arm, my cheeks blushing a bright red. “Just out of interest would it be a dartboard or your wall?” Liam continued. I stuck my tongue out at him.
“You’ll never know Mr. Nosy ,” I joked causing Liam to laugh.
The rest of the meal passed by very quickly, with the occasional comment from Liam about Harry. I have to say I was surprised with Harry, he was smiling and happy for the whole time, he was mainly speaking to me or Niall either about the food, about how I was finding law school and just little things like that.
“We’ll have to do this again,” Gemma insisted as we stood outside, it was bitter cold, my teeth were chattering slightly.
“Yes for sure!” Laila insisted, pulling Gemma in for a hug, she looked as if she were about to offer Harry one but he took a step back, staring at the floor and kicking a bit of gravel back and forth. Next it was Liam, he too gave Gemma a hug but just offered Harry a small goodbye, same as Niall and Maddie. I approached Gemma, wrapping my arms around her.
“Thanks for coming Jennifer, we’ll have to go for coffee sometime this week,” she insisted, I nodded and grinned.
“Definitely!” Gemma smiled and I stepped back, it was only then did I realise that Harry was stood beside Gemma. I looked at him and smiled.
“Bye Harry,” I said, before I could register what was going on, Harry’s arms were wrapped around me, I smiled to myself and hugged him back, as we drew apart, Harry’s lips came into contact with my cheek, causing me to blush once again.
“See you around Jen,” he said before him and Gemma walked the other way from us.
“What was all that?” Laila smirked, linking her arm with mine as we walked back to Liam’s car. Liam sniggered at her question.
“Honestly?” I replied, “I have no clue.”
After brushing my teeth, changing into my long pyjama shirt and tying my hair up, I was ready to climb into bed. A knock on the door changed this plan though so I padded across the carpet, pulling the door open, Harry was stood there, still in the same clothes as earlier.
“Harry, what are you doing here? It’s past midnight!” I laughed; Harry looked at me and stepped forwards into my room, closing the door behind him.
“I wanted to come and say hi,” he replied, stepping past me and wandering round my room, stopping at the pin board above my desk.
“I’ve been with you all evening so I’m not buying that,” I persisted, resting my hands on my hips awaiting his reply. He looked up from whatever he was browsing on my pin board and smirked. He padded over towards me, leaning forward so that his lips brushed my ear, his warm breath sending goose bumps over the skin that it hit. My knees felt weak, I could feel my breathing increasing in speed, my hands went clammy and my heart rate picked up as I strained to keep a blush rising onto my cheeks.
“I’m going now, only because you look so goddamn hot in that shirt and if I stay I don’t know what would happen,” he growled before nipping my earlobe. My breath hitched as I tried to process what he just said, I hadn’t even realised that he was no longer stood before me until the sound of my door closing bought me back from my thoughts.
