A/N: A bit of a spooky, supernatural modern day AU. Kylo Ren is scary, okay? A good fit for upcoming Halloween.

You wonder if the store was once the setting of a horror film.

Cobwebs litter almost every inch of the place, and an eerie flickering light above does nothing to illuminate the ancient artifacts hidden under a layer of gray. Leaning towers of containers-- some empty and some full of broken treasures-- threaten to collapse at any moment, and instinctively you hold your arms out in case one did decide to tilt a little too close.

As you stroll down the dust-filled aisles, still unsure why you even stepped into the musky shop, something catches your eye. It's a small box, one of the many strewn about the area, but something about it calls to you. It pleads for you to take it. Slowly, your hand reaches forward, and in one motion, you claim the unknown item from the bedridden shelf.

Immediately, the dirt consumed container sends a jolt of ownership through your fingertips, and without hesitation, you wipe away the brown dust from the top. You almost laugh in irony.

Along the front of the package, in bold, faded yellow letters, reads the words Star Wars.

You are a fan of the series, of course, but this artifact seems so out of place in the antique shop that you can't help but feel suspicious. Why would something like this be sold here?

"How curious," you mumble under your breath, using your long sleeve to remove more of the dust.

"Do you like?"

You jump in your skin as a rough, screechy voice echoes behind you. Quickly, you spin around, dropping the box in the process. A foreign woman dressed from head to foot in dark green smiles at you from behind thick framed glasses. Her graying hair is pinned up with clips, the deep wrinkles on her face exaggerating her age. You never saw her when you entered the shop, and inconspicuously, you eye the front door.

"It's a good collection piece," she says hoarsely, regaining your attention. "Cheap price."

You look down to the box resting on the floor. Cautiously, you bend down to retrieve it from its fallen state, turning it around. In the area where you had removed the dirt, behind the plastic sheet, is an action figure of a character you know all too well.

"Kylo Ren?" you question, more to yourself than the shopkeeper. He seems lifelike, even behind the plastic. His black cloak is perfectly draped around his body, and unlike the cheap, thick material you've noticed on other action figures, his clothes appear to be hand sewn. His mask is polished, though if you look close enough, behind the lustrous metal lies a story of many galactic wars. The toy is beautiful, obviously made with care.

But, damn. A toy? You're nineteen, for goodness sake!

"Only eleven dollars."

It is a convincing price... even you, the cheapest person alive, can't help contemplating the purchase.

It's a toy! you yell at yourself silently. What would you ever do with a toy?

"I'll take it," you suddenly say, surprising yourself. It was as if something had made the decision for you, as if your voice was stolen. You don't need this nine-inch doll, but somehow, you find yourself reaching for your wallet in your pocket, drawing out exactly eleven dollars and handing it to the woman. Quickly, you make your escape from the store, Kylo Ren's figurine under your arm.
