(Y/N) never had much hope of becoming more than a janitor at the First Order's base. Taken away from a family long before she could remember, she was intended to become a trained Stormtrooper. Her masters, however, quickly realized she was not Stormtrooper material: sure, she could defend herself rather well in lessons even at the early age of eight, but when it came down to loyalty, they weren't so sure. (Y/N) was a time bomb, and hardly ever considered the rules they had prepared for students. So, instead of taking a risk at training an unaccountable fighter, the First Order decided to stop her lessons altogether-- to their great disappointment.

(Y/N) could have become one of the greatest weapons they had, and they knew it.

She was almost seventeen when General Hux announced a new apprentice had been chosen by Supreme Leader Snoke. (Y/N) would be lying if she said she didn't feel a small amount of jealousy bubbling up inside her; for the longest time, she had dreamed of becoming a great leader of the First Order, tearing apart the Rebel scum with Leader Snoke at her side. Of course, it was stupid for even thinking such irrationalities, and as she crouched down to sweep up the last amounts of trash lingering on the floor of the cafeteria, she cursed herself.

A janitor becoming a leader. How pathetic.

"(Y/N), perhaps if you weren't so caught up in your daydreams, you would have realized you missed a spot."

Her head whipped upwards, shooting lasers at the woman standing above her. Captain Plex smirked, only moving her eyes to the side where a used napkin lied a few feet away. Standing back up with the dust pale in hand, (Y/N) fought back the urge to throw the trash in the Captain's face. Biting her tongue, she sighed.

"I wasn't daydreaming. And thank you for pointing out the obvious. Perhaps you would be as kind as picking it up for me? Or are your hands just as useless as your battle strategies?"

She expected the slap after the comment, but it still didn't make her any less angry. Holding her gaze to the floor, (Y/N) chewed on the inside of her mouth while her cheek burned red with the sudden contact from Captain Plex. The Captain fumed; she should have seen an insult coming from the intolerable girl, yet she hadn't. She wanted to do worse than a simple smack, but doubted that General Hux would be pleased. And she had to do everything to stay on his good side if she expected to stay in control of the Stormtrooper army.

"Stupid girl," the Captain spat. "Learn your place. Look at yourself! A custodian on the First Order's ship! You have the least important role anywhere in the Galaxy, yet you deem it wise to talk up to me, your superior?"

(Y/N) held back another taunt that threatened to escape her mouth. If she wanted to stay alive, there was no use arguing. Her blonde captain was right after all; she was just a useless, powerless maid.

"Besides," Plex continued after a moment, brushing back a stray strand of her gelled hair back into place, "Kylo Ren is coming to us today. He's begun his training with Snoke, and this ship needs to be in top shape for his visit. You wouldn't want to disappoint the apprentice, would you? He just murdered an entire temple of Jedi...imagine what he could do to a foolish girl like yourself."

The custodian swallowed, not from fear-- no, she wasn't afraid of anything-- but from irritation. What could she possibly do to prove her worth to the First Order? Surely being a janitor would never fulfill her dying need to be recognized by the Supreme Leader... if only he could see her potential! Unfortunately, even Hux had never even looked in her direction, let alone Snoke himself. The only reason Captain Plex knew (Y/N) was by unintentional association.
