Soon, it was 7 o'clock and Shane was knocking at the door. I grabbed my purse, walking downstairs with Tammy.

I opened the door to find a very well-dressed Shane. He smiled, a bouquet of flowers in his hand. He handed them to me with a smirk.

"Here, beautiful flowers for the beautiful lady," he said with a smile.

I sniffed them, then handing them to Tammy as Shane took my arm.

"Goodnight Tammy," I said as we left.

We got into his truck, his mom's actually, but I liked it. He started to drive, grabbing my hand as we pulled out of the driveway. I wrapped my fingers around his, smiling lightly.

Why does this feel so different?

Shane noticed how nervous I was and looked at me worriedly.

"Babe? Is everything alright?"

I turned to him and smiled.

"Everything is perfect."

"You're acting different. Are you sure everything's alright?"

I had to come up with a lie.

"It's just, um, my family. I just walked out and haven't heard from them since. Scares me a little. Especially my brother. He usually texts me when I leave like that and I haven't heard a thing."

We pulled into the parking lot of the nearby Italian restaurant and Shane turned off the truck. He turned to me, my hand still wrapped around his. He put his hand on the side of my face and brought me close to him, placing a light kiss on my lips. I pulled myself forward, pulling him into another kiss. He pulled back, chuckling lightly. He looked into my eyes and seemed a bit confused.

"You're acting very different. Please tell me what's wrong."

"I told you what was wrong."

"That's bullshit Mandy. You know you can tell me anything."

"Yeah?" I said curiously. "And you can tell me anything, yet you choose to keep things from me."

He laughed quietly.

"No fair," he muttered.

I kissed him on the cheek and got out of the truck slowly. Shane got out, ran over to me quickly, and helped me off of the side of it. He grabbed my hand as we walked into the restaurant, which only had a few people in it. Soon, our food was given to us, and Shane and I ate in complete silence. Until he spoke up.

"Babe?"

"Mhm?" I mumbled quietly, looking up at him.

"I love you so much."

"I love you too, Shane."

"What is wrong with you tonight?"

"Nothing. Why does something have to be wrong for me to be quiet?"

"Because you're never quiet."

I laughed quietly.

"True.... But it's nothing to worry about, honestly."

"I have a question," Shane said quietly.

"What is it?"

"It's stupid."

"What?"

"Well, you can be friends with someone you like, right?"

"Yeah of course. Why Shane, are you cheating on me?"

We both laughed quietly.

"Trust me, that's not it."

"Well good."

He laughed quietly, but then smiled nervously. He was thinking about something, I don't know what, but he was really thinking about it.

As we stood to leave the restaurant, Shane left a tip on the table. We walked hand in hand to the don't counter to pay for our food. We silently walked back to the truck and got in.

We sat there for a minute, our fingers intertwined. Shane began to run his thumb in circles on the back of my hand. I smiled lightly and looked over at Shane. He was smiling widely at me. God, that smile...

I pulled the storage thing that was in between us up and leaned over to him. I pulled him to me, kissing him lightly. I put my hands around his neck, tilting my head and deepening the kiss. He pulled me closer to him by my waist, leaning over me slightly. My hands made their way to his hair, tugging lightly.

Something seems wrong...

I'm putting passion into this kiss, and so is he... But it's different.

I pulled back and looked into his eyes.

"What?" he asked, slightly out of breath.

"Nothing babe. Nothing."

I pulled him into another kiss, pulling him as close as possible to me. His stomach touched mine as we kissed, decreasing the space between us. He began to grind his hips into mine slowly. I gasped, moving away from him. He's never been like this.

"I-I'm sorry," he whispered.

I let out a deep breath.

"It's fine Shane. Can we go?" I asked quietly.

"Yeah."

He started the truck and began to drive back to Tammy's house. It was silence. Not just any silence, dead silence. Shane still had my hand in his, but it wasn't like before.

When we got back to Tammy's, he walked me to the door. As we stood in front of the door, he let go of my hand.

"Happy anniversary babe," he said with a nervously smile. He pulled a long black velvet box and handed it to me. I opened it and smiled. It was a charm bracelet. The only charm on it was a heart. I smiled widely and pulled Shane in for a kiss.

"Thank you. It's been one of the best anniversaries ever," I said as I hugged him.

"You're welcome. I'll see you tomorrow, okay?"

"Of course."

I walked into the house and my smiled faded quickly.

Tonight was SO awkward...

It was so different, pissed me off a bit.

I walked up to Tammy's room, throwing myself down on the cot. I had my face buried in the pillow for a minute until my phone went off.

It was Joey...

'Wanna come over?'

I smiled widely.

'Yeah, when?'

It was a few minutes, but eventually he texted back.

'Um, Shane just texted me, wanting to come over. It'll have to be after he leaves, is that okay?'

I let out a deep breath.

'Yeah, sure. I'll wait.'

'I love you.'

'Love you too Joey.'

I waited for about an hour in Tammy's living room, waiting for the roar of Shane's truck to go away. I kept looking out the window, checking to see if Shane was leaving yet. At one point, I saw Shane standing on the front steps with Joey. Shane said something and Joey threw back his head in laughter and he revealed his beautiful smile. Shane wrapped his arms around Joey and hugged him...

But as he pulled back...

WAIT.

WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST SEE?
