Chapter 25

Jaco's smile drops from his face. "What?"

"No sweetie that isn't Ason, its Jaco"

Valissa's smiles drops. "Oh" she turns back around to face the opposite wall and continues to let more tears fall.

Jaco looks at everyone as they look down and shake their heads sadly. "I knew it, I fucking knew it!" he sighs in defeat and pulls something from his pocket, debating if he wanted to say anything, he just starts walking from the room.

"Where are you going?" Kymmer calls.

"I'm leaving" he says without looking back. "I'm not needed here"

Kymmer looks at his back as he walks out. "I told you not to invite him in!" she says spinning around to look at Calli.

Calli's eyes widen. "How the hell was I supposed to know that she would call him Ason?" she yells back.

Kymmer runs a hand over her face and looks back at her hurt best friend.

Ason

Ason hears his phone ringing and looks around for it sleepily. He had been dozing off ever since Jaco had left and that was about an hour ago!

He groans when he finally finds it and sees who it is.

"What?" he growls into the phone.

"Get over to Valissa's now"

"No" he says about to hang up.

"WAIT!" He hears Jaco yell into the phone. "She really needs you Ason"

"I said no" Ason repeats stubbornly.

"She called me, you"

This gets his attention. Ason sits up.

"What?"

"Yeah." He sighs. "She was crying her heart out and she looked a mess."

"Why was she crying?"

"I don't know they said she was 'going through something'. I didn't believe that shit!"

Ason frowns. What could possibly be wrong with Valissa? He wanted to know immediately. He may have said he hated her and he would never speak/see her again but he wanted to, no he needed to.

"I'm on my way. I'll use Mickey's car" he's about to hang up. "Wait where are you?"

Ason hears Jaco inhale and exhale deeply into the phone. "I had to get out of there as soon as she called me you. I couldn't take it, it was like getting tornado kicked in the stomach" he laughs dryly. "It really fucking hurt. But you do your thing bro, I'm happy for you; be with the one you want and the one who wants you." He gives him the address and he hears Jaco is about to hang up.

Ason nods. "Jake?" he whispers.

"Yeah, Ace?"

"Thank you"

"I love you too, Ace"

Ason hangs up the phone and jumps out of his bed so fast that he face plants into his carpet. "Shit!" he yells as he hits the floor.

He had been so broken up without her and it had only been a day but he couldn't do it, he had to see her. He just had to.

A few minutes later Ason emerges from his room in a pair of black jeans, all black All Stars and a ripped batman t-shirt.

"Where are you going?" Mickey asks over the couch not taking his eyes away from the TV.

"I have something important to do" he says. "And I need your car"

"I need it for work tomorrow."

"If me or Jaco aren't home by 12, call out"

Mickey sits up and sighs watching Ason walk through the front door. He had the tiniest smirk painted across his lips. He was proud that his little brother finally decided that he wanted to be happy, for himself.

Ason gets to Valissa's house 30 minutes later since it is on the other side of town. He gets out of the car slowly, debating if he should get back into Mickey's car and drive away from her forever.

He decides not to, he wanted to see her.

Ason walks up the three little steps and up to her front door. He knocks.

No answer.

He knocks a little harder.

Still no answer.

Ason tries the doorknob and twists it. It's unlocked. He steps into the house slowly and cautiously. "Hello?"

He still gets no answer so he walks around the house to get used to his surroundings just in case he has to try and make an escape for it.

Then he hears voices. Not just any voices but low voices; like they're whispering. Ason follows the voices and comes to the top of the stairs where he sees Ryder, Kymmer and some tiny girl who has similar features to Valissa.

"Uhm... excuse me?" he calls out.

They turn to him and their eyes widen.

"Who the hell are you? And why are you in my house?" The girl yells.

"Shhhh!" Ryder says. "I think Lissa's sleeping" he goes to check on her.

The girl glares at him.

"Uhm..."

Kymmer smiles at him. "Callissta this is Ason" she walks up to him and hugs him tightly. "Hello Ason"

Ason stands there frozen. He didn't like hugs; he didn't like for people to touch him... only Valissa. He moves his arms a little to wrap around her. Instead he pats her back gently, oddly, and awkwardly.

"You're Ason?" he hears the girl ask surprised.

He nods.

She smiles at him. "I'm Callissta, Calli for short, Lissa's older sister" she walks up to him and sticks her hand out for him to shake. "Thanks for coming. We really need you"

"What's the matter with her?" he asks frowning.

They shrug. "We don't know, she wont tell us" Kymmer says.

"She cried your name until she fell asleep when she came home yesterday; in a t-shirt that wasn't hers"

Ason looks down ashamed. He had just kicked her out and not let her explain anything.

"And then ever since then she's been moody and ready to pounce and beat someone's face in"

He chuckles. "Tiny little Valissa?"

They nod with smiles on their faces.

Ason looks at her room door; scared.

"It's alright Ason. She's fine now, she quieted down a few minutes ago just a few sobs here and there."

He nods walking to her door.

"And don't fuck it up this time Ason" he hears Kymmer whisper.

He looks at her and nods slowly. "I know. I think I love her"

The girls smile and clap their hands quietly. "Yes!"

He shakes his head and continues to walk into her room to see Ryder standing at the end of her bed looking at her silently. "Don't fuck this up, she's like my little sister and I love her like she really was!" he says without looking at him.

Ason nods.

"I know she's crying and broken inside because of you but if you fix it and nothing is wrong with her anymore I won't kill you"

Ason just stands off to the side. "Ok"

Ryder finally turns and stares Ason down dangerously. "Fix it. Now." He says pointing to the bed and walking out shutting the door behind him softly.

Ason looks to the bed with the sleeping girl and sighs softly getting ready to make a change. He was going to either walk out of this house with a girlfriend or broken... forever.
