Em's POV -
As soon as those words left my mouth, I looked around the room to see five boys who were totally speechless; they weren't expecting me to say or do something like this when I hadn't even been here for that long.
"You cant leave us Em. You're amazing." Max finally spoke, looking at me as if he was about to burst out in tears if I didn't tell him I was only joking and I was always going to be here.
"I'm sorry Max. I can't work somewhere that I'm not wanted." I replied, turning my back on them and walking out of the room.
"But you are wanted. We want you here." Max shouted after me, but they didn't even know half the story; they were probably just thinking this is because of them and nothing else.
But there was so much more to it than they even understood.
It wasn't just the working with them and being hated by their girlfriends. It was also the constant put-downs from my family. The lack of confidence that I had in myself to be able to actually do this. And the fact that there were other people who deserved this job over me, and they picked me for some unknown reason.
"I'm not wanted. None of you understand, so don't even pretend that you do." I snapped with tears rolling down my cheeks. I didn't mean to react like this, but I was tired of people thinking that they understood me and that they could tell what I was thinking.
When, in actual fact, they had no idea what was going on inside my head and just how messed up I really was.
"Em-"
"Don't even bother. Just leave me alone." I interrupted Siva before he could say what he wanted to say.
I had said what I needed to say, and now I didn't need to say anymore; without another word to one of them, I simply walked out of the room and didn't even bother looking back.
When I was in this mood, I didn't want to talk to anyone, because it's not like they even cared anyway and I'm sure they would be grateful once I was gone; they would be able to employ someone else who is more than capable of doing the job without being slow and careful about it all anyway.
Tom's POV -
"What was that all about?" Nathan asked, totally clueless about what had just happened and why it had happened.
"I think this has something to do with Juliet and Grace. It was obvious that neither of them really liked her when they met." I sighed.
Emma might not have said anything and she might have put a smile on when she was around us, but I could tell that something wasn't right.
It was even more obvious that something wasn't right when you could see either Grace of Juliet laughing behind their hands, while pointing at Em at the same time - she got on with the other three, but there was just something about those two that meant they weren't going to like Em.
"Don't bring Juliet into this. Just because Em is having a bad time at the moment doesn't mean it's anything to do with my girlfriend." Jay snapped angrily.
"You didn't see how they were around her. You know how jealous she gets when she sees you with other women." I argued. I know that he loved her and everything, but there were times when he was totally blind to the way that she was when it came to him and other girls; he decided to see what he wanted to see and nothing else.
"You're just jealous that my relationship is going great, and yours is slowly falling apart because Grace can't trust you anymore."
"Mate, there was no need for that one." Siva said, trying to diffuse the argument before it got any worse.
But he was telling the truth, Grace was very jealous when it came to me and she had a right to be because I had cheated on her in the past; but we happened to be going through a real rough patch back then and everything just seemed to be falling apart around us.
I was drunk, but she was pissed with me when she found out what happened.
Apparently being drunk isn't an acceptable excuse for sleeping with some stranger.
"Maybe one of us should go and look for Em. You know, make sure she's alright." Nathan added cautiously as he looked between me and Jay, making sure we weren't going to punch him or anything.
"You know what? I couldn't care less if she left. All the crap that's happened recently is down to her anyway, so if she left, then everything would go back to normal." Jay shouted.
"That's not fair. You can't say that." Max reacted with shock.
"I believe I did just say that and, if you're all too stupid to open your eyes to the obvious, then that's your loss and not mine. You know as well as I do that, if she had never started working for us, then we would all still be happy without all the problems she has bought us." Jay argued, and none of us could believe what he was saying.
He was the one that suggested Emma for the job in the first place, and he was the one that had told us she deserved a chance because we might be able to help her with her confidence and get her where she wanted to be.
But this wasn't going to help her out at all.
This was only going to make her feel worse and she would never want to work for us if she heard what he was saying about her; it was just completely unnecessary and there was no need for it.
"Look, I'm going to find her and make sure she's alright." I sighed. I knew that if I listened to what he had to say for any longer, than I would end up punching him.
Yes.
Over the past couple of months in which Em had been working with her, I had slowly started falling for her.
I knew it was wrong because I was in a relationship with Grace, but I just couldn't help myself.
There was nothing not to love about her.
She was gorgeous, even though she didn't realise it and never accepted it when someone complimented her on how gorgeous she happened to be looking one night. She wasn't outgoing and loud like most people I know, she just kept herself to herself and didn't really tell any of us anything about herself - all we knew was that she lived with her sister a couple of times a week, and she stayed with her bestfriends for the rest of the week; none of us knew why that was though. She cared about other people before herself and always wanted to make sure we were all happy, no matter what it took to make us happy, she just had a way about her that would cheer you up instantly.
I don't want to admit it, but I think that I love Emma.
I love our assistant.
