"Okay, listen, I don't know what dumb lines you are used to giving girls so they fall all over you but I just want you to know that I wasn't born yesterday so I am gonna go now and leave you to whatever dumb idiot girl is gonna buy that line."
― Andrea Portes
Charlie applied her mascara, tied her crisp white shoelaces tightly. Pulled her work out pants for stretchiness and jogged across about 35 minutes to the gym. Her legs gliding with ease keeping a steady pace. Charlie was slender but curvy. Her recent days at the beach had given her a glowing honey tan that other men must have noticed as she jogged because they seemed to lose focus of what they were doing just to keep eye contact with her until she passed.
She had an innocent fresh young face that she never defiled with heavy makeup. Her medium blond waves bounced and caught the wind as she finally got to her destination. She caught her breath at the door and made her way inside. Setting up camp with her yoga matt.
Charlie made the effort to workout every saturday for a few hours. She took pride in her slim physique. She took a swig of water and did various stretching that tested her flexibility, strength and balance. like Standing on one leg and bending to touch her toes.
The gym was usually empty at noon when Charlie would go but today someone came in too. The boy walked in and hit the weights. The room was dead silent, even the workers seemed to walk around on their tip toes. Charlie kept stretching. The young man pumped 30 pound weights while he stared at Charlie's bottom. He decided he'd better focus before dropping a weight on his foot.
He looked away for a few moments but he couldn't help his eyes trailing over her body again. She slipped her headphones in and worked her body over a big yoga ball. He had a very strong urge to go up to Charlie. He reasoned she was about his age. After about an hour of exercise, he mustered up enough courage to come up to her, while she was patting away sweat on her forehead with a towel. He stood in front of her with a loose posture and a player's smile. Charlie waited for him to speak without smiling back. "My name is Ashton what's yours?"
"Charlie.."
"I just wanted to say you are beautiful - I hope you don't find it weird that I've been admiring you from afar?" He raised an eyebrow.
"Just a tad." She said drinking from her water bottle.
"I'm sorry I just couldn't help it - come to this gym often?" Ashton ran his hands through his hair. His sweaty damp, unattractive looking hair. Charlie couldn't believe he was really going with the 'you come around here often?' line.
"I've been going to this gym for almost six years." Charlie nodded.
"Wow nice, like that effort, going to the gym takes discipline."
"Sure does." Charlie agreed.
He admired her striking blue eyes, then his thoughts quickly shifted to how he'd love to make her sweat just as much as the gym has. He casually licked his lips and leaned on some gym equipment and asked. "How does taking my number down sound?" Charlie made a face, just out of natural reaction, she didn't mean to, it was impulse. She reluctantly answered. "Well I suppose.."
"Great I'll text you sometime.." He pulled out a pen from what seemed like thin air and wrote down his number on the back of her hand. "Make sure you reach out to me." He winked grabbing his things to go.
