"John! Skate over here!" I turned my head, and saw Lafayette gesturing me to skate over, Hercules by his side

"John! Skate over here!" I turned my head, and saw Lafayette gesturing me to skate over, Hercules by his side. I smiled and turned my head to Alex who had his arm still locked with mine. I was waiting for his approval to skate me over, but he just nodded and unlocked arms with me. I was confused. I tilted my head a little bit.

"You can do it, I know you can!" He told me. He must have noticed my confusion. I spun around on my skates, and pushed off from where I was standing towards Lafayette's direction. Carefully bring my other foot in front of the other, then pushing myself forward again. I repeated this until I was slowing myself to a stop in front of Lafayette. I smiled wide. I spun around to see Alex clapping from across the area. He started to skate towards me, but I turned around and faced Laf, who was also clapping.

"Great job mon ami!" Lafayette complimented. Hercules didn't say anything but he smiled. I felt a small gust of wind hit me from behind as Alexander joined out group in the middle of the arena.

"John you did great! Keep it up!" Alex said, placing a hand on my shoulder, then taking it off again.

"We should go, what do you think Herc?" Lafayette asked, looking behind him to face Mulligan. He nodded in agreement. "Then it's settled. Let's go guys." Lafayette said before skating towards the entrance of the arena. Lafayette gestured over his shoulder for me and Alex to fallow. I pushed myself forward and met Laf by the entrance. I carefully stepped up onto a bench and undid my  skates. I pulled my socks up when Alex sat next to me, taking his skates off as well.

Out of the corner of my I caught a glimpse of the red string. I tried to ignore it. It means nothing. I know it means nothing. I got up, and returned my skates. Once I was ready to go, I waited by the exit with Lafayette. We sat and chatted until Mulligan and Alex came out.

"Thanks for coming with us Alex." I told him. He blinked and slightly smiled.

"Thanks." He replied.

"I'm sure all of us want to hang out more, so we should exchange numbers. Alex you know where our dorm is, stop by anytime. You need our number anyway because your tutoring John." Lafayette speaks up. "Let me add him into your contacts."

"Oh..." Alexander looks down. "I... I don't have a phone." He replies. Hercules gasps quietly. No one speaks up. It wouldn't be kind to press on the conversation about how Alex doesn't have a phone. "I have an apple computer, so I can message and facetime on there."

"Perfect!" Lafayette replies to him. I handed Alex my phone, and he gave me his contact info. "I'm sure John will contact you when he needs you, which will be in like five minutes knowing him." Alex let out a laugh.

"Yeah he seems like a needy person." The groups laughs. "Well, I will see you later!" He gives a short wave.

"Bye, thanks for your help." He just nods and walks away. Me, Laf, and Herc start to make our way homes. I see their sting. They are so oblivious. I walk in between then, so the strings tangles me up like a web. As Laf and Herc chat, I take this time to reflect on me and Alex. I have no idea what I am going to do. I want help from Lafayette, he's my best friend, but he will ask who is connected to, and I can't tell him. It would ruin our friendship with Hercules. Maybe if I can just rephrase it-

"John, snap out of it. We are here. Say goodbye to Mulligan." I stare at Lafayette and blink. How long was I thinking about this? I turn over to Herc.

"Bye. See ya later bro." He says his goodbyes and walks back to his dorm. Lafayette fiddles with his keys, and shoves on in the key hole, opening to door to a dark dorm. He walks in and flips the light switch, making the room light up. Laf makes his way over to his bed, and flops on it. It was somewhere around 8:30.

"I'm going to bed, I have to get up early, do whatever you want." Laf doesn't even bother to take his clothes off, or getting under the covers for that mater. I made my way over to my turtle tank, and looked inside. Inside I saw my turtle, Dagmuar (Inside joke) sitting on a log staring back at me. I popped a few pellets of her food into her tank, and taking my computer, climbed back into bed.

I turned the lights off and started browsing youtube. I know I should have been studying, but I didn't have the motivation to. As I watched my turtle completion, a thought started to grow in the back of my mind. What if Alex really is gay? He never told me, how am I supposed to know? Would it just e weird to ask him? Would it be weird to ask him what height he was because that was the real question.

I curse under my breath, I need to call him to set up a time to study. I look at the time. 3:07 AM. Wow. Would it be wrong of me to call him now? The answer is yes but I need answers. I turn on facetime and take my phone out, putting in his contact info before taking a deep breath and pressing the call button. One ring, two rings, three rings, then a "Hello?"

"Alex?" I ask, the video still loading.

"John is that you? What are you doing up, it's 3 in the morning." He replies, he dimly lit face now loading and coming into view. From what I can tell, he is in bed, like me.

"What are you doing up this late?"

"I am studying, couldn't whatever this is wait?"

"No it's important. What time are we meeting?"

"Is this what you called for? If so, maybe after school tomorrow, I'll swing by your dorm." It was then that I noticed what Alex was wearing. He was still wearing my coat. In bed.

"Alex are you wearing my coat? Alex are you gay?" There was silence.

"I forgot to take it off."

"To bed?"

"Yes."

"Are you gay?" Silence. "Alex?"

"I'm Bi."

"Thanks for telling me."

Call ended.
