CHAPTER 11: Percy
A solemn, bright night masked the whole village, while the night owls were perking up their heads for it was time for them to wake up. This big wise one flapped its wings and flew away, hovered over each of the roofs of the houses, swerved at the balcony where Benji was there relaxing after a very fun ride with Kieran at the Arcade, and then perched on the small balcony from the window of Jane’s bedroom. It cocked its head on a series, peeking in the window, probably waiting for Jane to notice her.
I was in the middle of writing another paragraph on my notebook. Some may call it a journal or diary, but I wanted it to be as simple as a notebook. I heard Percy pecked on my window.
Percy was a Great Horned Owl and he’s a good friend of mine. He’s so prominent about my mother and almost any important story and detail that he knew was able to tell me, especially those things that my father could not even say to me.
I turned, sweetly smiled to him and quickly ran to open the window for him. We greeted each other with a nice evening as I pushed the half of my body outside the window to take the fresh cool breeze.
Percy was always visiting me at this hour after he woke up. Sometimes, he was absent or late if he encountered some important happenings around the forest, like what happened the other night when he told me a very important thing for me. That one I had been writing in my notebook earlier.
Percy began to fill me in news that he thought that I would care. “Benji seemed happy tonight. Hoot!”
“That’s very good to hear, Percy.” I giggled and leaned my elbows on the edge of the window, having my hands bent up then laid my chin on my palms, smiling. “Tell me more.”
“Well, I guess they had fun at the city all day. Hoot!” Percy said then I rose my left eyebrow. “Who are they?” I asked.
Unexpectedly, I overheard someone was singing outside in the street. My room was located a little behind the house and I thought if I rush to my father’s room and glance through the window, I could see that someone who was actually singing my favorite song.
“That someone… Jane. Hoot! He’s with Benji all day at the city. Hoot!” Percy said, stopping me a little from moving, and then we smiled at each other before I watched him fly away with such grace.
“♪I love you… I hope you’ll love me, too♪… forever♪ we will be together…♪”
I ran inside to my father’s room quickly and at the window, I saw him singing and he was actually going to this house.
At first, I couldn’t notice who he was but then I thought he was Kieran all along. My heart was beating faster, as I watched him walk closer while still singing.
I turned away from the window, breathing considerably faster. I never felt this feeling before. Maybe because it was his voice, he sang my favorite song so well and I thought he didn’t even know that, that song was my favorite.
He was still singing outside. I sat on the bed to calm myself. I wanted to go down already and open the door for him, but I just grabbed one of the pillows and grasped it tightly, then closed my eyes. I felt like he was singing for me.
