CHAPTER 3: Snow

Snow Eiker-Wolf was still riding in her luxury car the same day she went to stalk Friz Eiker at the Post Office. She was doing her daily routine where she was taking trips on every street corner of the city just to show off and peeve the lower class people. If she saw something she didn’t want, she would never be indecisive to call any sector concerned and flash money out of their faces just to take that thing down.

She appeared to be that she called someone, “Excuse me, who was this who answered my call?”

A woman from her phone call introduced, “This is Katheryn from Elven city Post Office, ma’am. How can I serve you?”

“All right, I’ve been there earlier but I was so busy that I forgot to ask you something,” Snow said while she was checking up her fancy magenta-colored, sharp fingernails.

“Yes ma’am. What could be the problem?” Katheryn asked.

“I want you to look for a name, Friz Eiker. Hurry, hurry, my husband was supposed to call me soon.” She played her fingers like a walking stickman on the driver's visible shoulder from where she was seated. The driver didn't mind. He knew it was his job, and there have been pleasurable moments that secretly happened a long time ago.

After at least 45 seconds, Katheryn from phone apologized, “I’m sorry ma’am but I couldn’t find a name Friz Eiker from the approved list of clients and post office stations.”

“Um, however, my partner Sara is browsing the files of unapproved and pending clients… just has to wait for a bit,” she said.

“Give the phone to her and if she didn’t find Friz Eiker, you’ll never be able to sit there again. Got it?” Snow demanded, raising her voice while she was reaching for the driver's right ear with her fingers seductively.

The employees began to crack their nerves from fear. But eventually, Sara found an application form named and signed by Friz Eiker.

“Good news, ma’am. I found Friz Eiker.” Sara was relieved.

“Well done. You just saved Katheryn’s life. Now tell me the address stated there.” Snow rolled her eyes fashionably and gave a sweet pinch on the driver's ear. The driver kept his passive state and stayed professional.

The Post Office's number one rule was to never give any information to anyone, but this was Snow Eiker-Wolf who was demanding, Sara insisted to state the address.

“It is District 12, Cyprus County ma’am. But it is due of approval will be six months later,” Sara said.

“Oh that’s bad luck. Tell your man in-charged to approve that already! I need to send a love letter to someone.” Snow demanded and drew her naughty fingers back, moved herself on her seat showing something alluring that exactly projected on the rear view mirror.

“Right away, ma’am,” Sara said.

Being so bored, Snow said, “Good, shoo now, B-bye!” clicked her phone and grinned. The driver glanced in the rear view mirror where he could see what Snow's up to. But all he did was shake his head.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, a mother and her child, about 6 years old was sitting on the chair next to a doctor; Doctor Rufus Wolf, the husband of Snow Eiker-Wolf. He was the best pediatrician in the city.

Dr. Wolf passed a paper to the mother, calming his patient, that's what he always do. “I have signed and approved this prescription of Doctor Felix for your son. You can now go to the lounge and wait for a nurse to present you the bills,” he said, patting on this boy’s head.

“You’d be strong now, son. I promise you that.” Dr. Wolf watched them leave his office.

He noticed the time for lunch break and had to call his wife again to meet her up.

After a while of calling, he headed straight to the private restaurant that they used to go to dine in. He saw that Snow was already there in her favorite seat in poise, and she was pleasantly waiting. He figured that she already made a special order right after he took a seat next to her.

While waiting for the meal, Dr. Wolf noticed that she was having pretty, girly eyes, looking far ahead through him. He stared at her waiting for her to blurt it out.

“Honey, I met a dead man earlier.” Snow mischievously smirked with evil eyes.

“What do you mean ‘dead man’?” Dr. Wolf’s forehead rippled a little.

“My big brother, can you believe that? He was alive!” she said delightedly while keeping her poise straight.

“How sure are you that he was the guy?” He placed the napkin on his lap, gazing at her.

“Of course, I’m sure! He told me his name and he never even recognized me at all,” she babbled. “Ugh, I have such a prettier face than my mother,” she impressed herself and smiled at him.

“The lawyer has to know that he was alive, honey.” Dr. Wolf proposed, leaning his forearm on the edge of the dining table.

“Why would I share the will to him? It’s better off this way!” She glared at me and exclaimed, “You know that I am more powerful than any lawyers around. You will never make me do so!”

Dr. Wolf sighed, “Honey, when you will ever change your attitude? You are such a mess.”

“I don’t care what you say to me, I have everything in my hands!” She controlled her voice, but wanted to yell at him. She took a tissue, gently wiped it under her lower lip, and madly squinted at him.

The waiter came over to hand their meal.

“I am not hungry.” She placed the tissue on the table and stood up. “Goodbye, honey!” fashionably walked out of the restaurant leaving Dr. Wolf behind.

He watched her left disappointed and thoughts came in.

Dr. Wolf met her in an outstanding university in the Capital City. She was never like that before. She was a daddy’s girl and loved the people around her especially him. Everything has changed after her mother committed suicide. Her mother couldn’t move on from the loss of her son, Friz Eiker.

A few years later before Snow’s graduation, an unknown assassin killed her stepfather and had never been put to justice. Her stepfather was a very influential corrupted man. Everybody hated him. Dr. Wolf still married her, because he loved her no matter what kind of person she was. He thought he could change her back, but she had been ignoring him so often. She never even wanted a child of their own that’s why he treated his child patients more than he cared for her.

He thought of leaving her, but he loved his family back home, so he chose to be practical and have it her way. He could do this alone, having a great job. He's happy but not for his wife.

Snow told him one night that after a few months, she would fly somewhere in Europe. She wanted to study witchcraft. He could never stop her, but at least he would be free. Without her in the city, people would be pretty much happier and safer.

Although, he was afraid of what’s going to be the result of the 4 years witchcraft training. He had been always thinking how he would prevent it. He knew he got to do something.

“Doctor Wolf?” The waiter reached him out from deep thoughts and he was about to place the meal on the table.

“Thank you,” Dr. Wolf said and smiled.

He still had his lunch and he liked this better alone, without her.

A lush meadow in District Twelve with bright sunny afternoon faded in.
