CHAPTER 16: Equinox

I hastened to give this letter to Friz. Passing by, I took a glimpse at Jane, who was on her front desk, and beckoned that I was going in to Friz’s office.

“Friz I got a letter from Snow,” I said without even knocking at the door and just strode in.

He glared at me, but I handed him the letter. “Damn, this perfume was all over my hand.”

I watched him open the letter and thought he was reading it for few seconds. “Thank you.” He nodded and folded the letter, then placed it under one of the book on his desk.

“Hey, aren’t you going to tell me about it?” I asked curiously and concerned about him, too. I thought I needed to know, so that I could assure myself his security.

I moved my head up and sideways, while folded my arms on my chest. I waited for him to tell me. “Well, it’s nothing really. She just told me that she’s back in the city,” he said, slumped a bit on his chair.

“Sure? Okay then,” I said with doubt, he might be hiding it from me. Really, Friz? Are you always going to keep your problems by yourself? I thought while we were staring at each other, then he snapped me from his weird smile.

I huffed, scratching my nape.

Before I left him, I almost forgot to place the magazines on the rack, which I thought he was the one who subscribed for it. So I did that quickly, took a salute at him, and went out.

Jane called me right after I walked out from Friz’s room. I smiled at her and took a seat by her desk.

I held her right hand. “Hey… wow,” I admiringly stared at her. “You look so beautiful.”

She shook her head, probably thought that I was lying, but I wasn’t. Come on, she knew it already. Though she wished that her hair were like Crystal’s, which was blonde, she’s only conscious when I’m with her. But I didn’t care at all because I always told her how beautiful she was inside out.

She asked me how my night after the party was. I told her that Percy was playing tricks on me. I explained that he slammed or pecked my window while I was in the middle of getting sleep and scared the hell out of me. However, I didn’t tell her that Friz came over.

When I was talking, I noticed her charming eyes were shimmering all over me. I mean she was gazing at me as if she was hypnotized. I rippled my forehead, and then I waved my hands to block her vision toward me.

“Jane? Are you alright?” I kissed her right hand.

There, she snapped out.

I widened my eyes and touched her cheek gently. “Hey, you’re eating me with your glowing eyes,” I smiled.

She raised her brows.  “What? Eating? Did my eyes just glow?” she said then rubbed her own eyes.

“Hey, I was just kidding, Jane.” I drew her hands from rubbing her eyes, and moved myself back a little as I thought she was always like that when she listen to anything I told her during this kind of situation. Is there something with my voice that somewhat captivated her as often when I talk? I thought to myself, slightly raised ego, proud that I knew she loves me.
