Clara's POV

Two years ago I moved to a small town known as Riverbridge with my two best friends; Nick and James. Riverbridge was a very peaceful, quiet town covered in woods. Not much ever happened which was perfect for us. Our presence was a mystery to the town people. We just randomly appeared one day with no parents or backstory. We looked and acted liked high school students. I played the role of cheerleader while James played football. But the three of us kept a dark secret. We were vampires. We constantly craved blood and found human blood to be the most satisfying. We moved every 3 to 4 years in order to avoid suspicion of our never aging faces. Nick was in charge of our new identities and moving. We had connections in the government which allowed us to live in such a way. Nick was a year older than James. Nick was very protective of his little brother James. He always had a plan B and C, in case A doesn't work out. James, however, was far more reckless than his brother. James always found himself in trouble. Although we weren't  related by blood, we were bonded together by our experiences. We had been through hell and back.

James and I were high school seniors while Nick had graduated a year before. We enjoyed high school a lot because in a way it made us feel normal to some degree. Today seemed like a normal Friday. I was in my cheer leading uniform and James was in his football jersey. We had a prep rally for the big game tonight. We were the bulldogs. We pulled up into school in our red jeep. However, the moment I set my foot outside of the car I knew something was up. The air smelled different and everyone seemed to be more hyped than usual on a Friday morning. James grabbed my schoolbag before grabbing my hand. We weren't a couple, but we did have a very loving friendship which sometimes had blurry lines. But it had never gone past playful flirting and kissing. We entered the main hall way of school which was more overwhelming with students than usual.

"Clara! James!" I heard my name being yelled by an obnoxious high voice. It was the cheer captain Stacey. I could tell James was rolling his eyes without even looking at him. She was definitely not his favorite person to be around.  They had a Tom Jerry type relationship where they constantly bicker and fight with each other.

"What's going on?" I asked, hinting to everyone chatting around us. James walked away as he had no interest in hearing what Stacey had to say.

"You haven't heard?!" It was very evident that she could barely obtain her excitement. She gripped my arms tightly in a very awkward hug like position, "There are over twenty new students transferring here!"

"What?" I said surprised. Twenty new students in one day was a lot and very strange.

"I know right! I was just as surprised," Stacey said, her eyes were already looking for the next people to spill the news with who walked through the door, "Nobody knows why. They simple just showed up overnight. I saw them with the principle last night after our cheer practice. "

"I'll see you during lunch," Stacey said to me while waving down the next group of people to walk through the door. Stacey had a kind heart although she was bossy, and very dramatic. She also loved to gossip a lot.

I made my way over to James who was putting my binders into my schoolbag for today.

"20 people is crazy," he said, he was ease dropping on us. Vampires had very good hearing. Although I am sure you don't need supernatural hearing in order to hear Stacey. I nodded in agreement.

All of sudden there was a change in the room. There was complete silence as everyone looked down the hall to see all twenty of the new students enter the hallway at once. There were seven girls and thirteen boys. Both genders were tall, physically fit, and nicely tan. The fact that they all came in together and had some resembles to each other left me very curious. There was confidence and a sense of fierceness in their eyes which seemed to intimidate the students staring at them. There was one male in particular who caught my attention. He didn't look like a student at all. He was walking with the principle and chatting with her. He was very tall and quite muscular. He explicated the most confidence especially compared to the principle who seemed nervous talking to him. I guess I couldn't blame her, he was unbelievable gorgeous. He was looking through the crowds of students in the hallway, not paying the principle much attention. He seemed to be searching for something or someone. His search stopped when his eyes found mine. I felt entranced by his stare. His eyes were luring me in. James seemed to notice me  staring at the man because he slammed my locker shut causing me to lose the hypnotizing stare down.
