Love At First Bite

CHAPTER 14

Calum's Pov

I sat anxiously in the maternity ward waiting to carry Zainah home. It felt like it was forever when in reality it was just about twenty minutes. The nurse took Rose to see her and to bring her out. I was waiting forever to take Zainah home. I was getting her room ready for weeks and was getting everything together. I tapped my feet against the floor of the hospital impatiently. After ten more minutes of waiting Rose came out from the office holding Zainah.

"Hey" she smiled before kissing Zainah on her forehead. "It's your daddy." She smiled as I took her from her mother.

"Hi baby girl." I said as I held her. She looked exactly like Rose but had my features. I sat down with her and admired her.

"The nurse wants me to fill out some forms, I'll be back." Said Rose kissing Zainah on the forehead before going back into the office.

I sat down cradling Zainah. She was such an adorable and peaceful baby. Her eyes were full of curiosity and life. It was hard to believe that she was born premature. Then, in the corner of my eye, I saw the person I despised the most.

"Cute kid."said Harry with a sly smile walking to us from the doors. "Looks just like Georgia. It's shameful that you're her father though."

"What do you want." I said gritting my teeth together and holding Zainah closer to me. He snickered before responding.

"Do I have to want something to see my step daughter?"

"She's not related to you and she sure as hell won't know anything about you when she's older."I spat.

"You sure about that? I thought that I'd probably get rid of you and your girls and remarry Georgia. I might keep this one but I'm still deciding on her."

"There's no way in hell that you're getting near anyone in my family without me slitting your throat first."

"You know Calum, you're lucky we're in a hospital.I could've just taken you out right now. Send Georgia my love, will you?"

With that he walked out of the room and disappeared in the hallway. As he left Zainah began to fuss. I cradled her and sang soft lullabies that put her back to sleep. If that man thinks he can at least try to get near my family again, he has another thing coming. They're the most important thing in my life. There is no way I'm letting him take my family, not like last time. I then felt Rose pat me on the shoulder.

"You ready to go?"she smiled. I smiled back at her. I can't be immune to a smile like that.

"Yeah sure." She took Zainah from me before heading down the hall.

I unlocked the car door letting her in to sit in the back with Zainah. She kissed her head and played with her hair, smiling at her little face. My one mission in life is to protect them, and that's what I'm gonna do.

Aurora's POV

I paced up and down my room with Shaloma and Andrea staring at me. Philip asked me out in school and since then I've been an awkward, nervous wreck. I'm usually chill with these things but for some reason I'm just a train wreck around him. I told him I'd have to think about the whole thing and I'd answer him today, even though every part of me was screaming yes.

The last few days after Philip kissed me were somewhat interesting. At first I tried ignoring it but then Shaloma took the liberty of going and asking him why he kissed me. Then we started hanging out more and my friend Andrea decided that it'd be fun to tell Philip I like him and to tell the rest of the school we were a thing. Lucky for me, no one really believed that Philip would be with me. After all that happened and everything sort of rolled over Philip decided to ask me out. I told him I'd think about it and give him an answer by today but I haven't decided yet.

"Dude relax, stop acting like Prince William asked you out. It's not like the world will end."said Andrea.

"Yeah but I told him I'd give him his answer by today and I haven't even thought about it." It was clear to them that I was lying cause if I wasn't we wouldn't be in the positions we are. "Dad doesn't even know he asked."

"Beauty he won't hate you for not answering. Just tell him you can't decide."suggested Shaloma.

"Yeah but he'll probably think I'm too stuck up to be seen with him or something." I rambled feeling paranoid.

"Aurora, chill, it's your choice, he can't argue with it okay?" Andrea said trying to calm me down.

I took a few deep breaths to clear my head. I do like him, I actually like him a lot more than I did before, but I'm not sure about dating him. I mean who knows if he's doing it out of pity or if he really does like me. Could he really like me? It's probably the only way to find out.

"So are you going?" asked Shaloma.

"Yeah, gimme the phone let me call him." She tossed me the phone and with shaky hands I dialed the number and hit the call button.

It rang and rang and rang again. It felt like an eternity before someone picked up.

"Hello?"I heard him say into phone. My breath hitched at the sound of his voice. I closed my eyes and tried to keep myself from being too nervous.

"Hey Philip."I said nervously pacing around the room.

"Is that beauty I hear on the other end of the line?" He said sounding a little happier and being a little more childish.

"Yeah."I smiled nervously.

"Sooo, about that little date," he started.

"I was calling about that," I said. I took a breath and pulled at the end of my top before answering. "Yeah, it'd be awesome to go on a date with you."

"Great! I'll be there right now." He said excitedly before hanging up. I was in complete shock. Philip Leo and I are actually going to go on a date.This is actually happening. We're actually going on a date.

I sat anxiously waiting for Philip to come and pick me up. A tsunami of thoughts started rushing through my mind. How would this night turn out like? Would he be my boyfriend? Of course I really like him but does he like me? Would he take me out on another date or would this be it? Does he genuinely like me or is he just trying to get in my pants? Would he take me out again if-. My thoughts were cut off by the shrill ring of the doorbell.

I stared at the door for a solid 5 seconds before reality hit. He's at the door. Suddenly I was ten times as nervous as I was before. I got off the couch and walked to the door trying not to trip over my feet. I took a breath before opening the door to reveal, not only Philip, but my dad.
