I couldn't sleep at all last night. Why? I couldn't stop thinking about the crossing lady for some reason.

So at about six-thirty I woke up. I looked in shock at the mess of a human in the mirror. That thing must be me. Greenish bloodshot eyes stared at me. It looked like a bird had made a nest in my chestnut brown hair. Nonetheless, I still had to deal with it. Uhhh mornings.

At seven-thirty it was time to catch my bus. And when I got to school, Taylor, Adrian and the rest of their posse were waiting for me at the gate. Taylor and a few others had blotchy eyes. From crying maybe?

"Is everything alright?" I asked frantically as I approached them.

"Sky, something horrible happened last night." Adrian said in a calm voice.

"What happened?" I said breathlessly.

"Sky, last night, Ryan disappeared." He informed me.

"What? Oh My God, you're kidding me right?" I said desperately. What had happened to Ryan? Was he alright? My head was spinning with questions.

"Im afraid not. Ryan was walking home from school, and that's all we know. After that, not a trace of him was left behind" Adrian sounded a bit upset.

"Oh no... what are they doing about it?'

"Nothing much. The police are doing all they can, but its just like he vanished into thin air." As Adrian spoke, Tasha made a sort of strangled sound.

After Adrian spoke no one said anything. We all sat in silence until Adrian broke the awkwardness.

"Sky, there's something else we have to tell you. About our school."

"Hmmm?"

"There's someone at our school you need to know about" He said.

"Just get to the point already." I said impatiently.

"There's a particular crossing lady at our school who is a bit out of the ordinary." He said in a grim voice. He couldn't mean the crossing lady from yesterday, could he? I growing more and more curious about that crossing lady.

"Proceed" I said.

"Well, this crossing lady is.. well kind of infamous around here." Adrian said.

"Why..."

He sighed "Sky, that crossing lady has done a unforgivable thing, No-one really knows what it was. And there's a reason why I'm telling you this; because the crossing lady was the last person to see Ryan."
