"Miss Del Monte!"

I woke with a start, nearly jumping out of my seat.

The blurry image of my Physics teacher, Mrs Martin, standing in front of my desk with a huge snarl on her face nearly gave me a heart attack.

Uh-oh.

"Do you think just because your dad is the richest man in the country you can afford to sleep in class?" She screamed at me.

I cringed. Her breath smelt of stale smoke and eggs. I hate eggs.

"Yes mam I do," I replied without thinking.

My comment was rewarded with a few claps and whistles from the class. Martin's face turned as red as my Gucci sweater.

"You have some-"

Thankfully, the bell rang before she could threaten to call my dad. Again. He sure wouldn't like it if I got into detention three weeks in a row.

Not that it's never happened before but you catch my drift.

I grabbed my backpack and shuffled out of the class.

"Vanessa! Victoria! " I screamed over to my friends who were occupied with their gorgeous boyfriends.

Their identical heads turned to me.

Vicki and Nessi were twins and also my bestest friends in the world. We had met on my first day in Beverley Hills and clicked immediately. They smiled at me and waved. At the same time. With the same hand. If it weren't for their different hairstyles and sense of styles, I would've died trying to tell them apart. Holden and Trey nodded at me then said goodbye to their girlfriends. I guess they didn't want to listen to our "girl-talk".

"O M Gosh hey birthday girl! You have to tell us what to wear tomorrow!" Vicki, the girly one screeched.

"No you need to tell us what to do and where to go," Nessi, the rocker, said.

"Guys I'll call you as soon as I wake up so we can go over the details then. We need to go shopping and everything but I think we should do that tomorrow. Today I need my beauty sleep. I'm turning 16!"

We held hands, screaming and hopping together. A few people stared but we didn't care.

My sweet 16th was the biggest event of my life and I had been planning it since I could speak. Literally. I wanted to make sure everyone remembered my party FOR-like-EVER.

"Chat later!" They headed for the parking lot and I waved them goodbye.

God I loved those two idiots.

Fortunately, I didn't have to stand alone for long because Rosalie was coming my way. Her curly black hair flew behind her as she walked as if someone had placed a huge fan in front of her. She was wearing a pair of denim shorts, cowgirl boots that reached her knees and a button-down shirt tied around her waist. A brown cowboy hat hid half of her face and her purse swayed in the wind. She looked amazing.

"Hey sis," she said.

And yes, Rosalie was my sister. Well adoptive sister. Her parents adopted me when I was 8, after my parents were killed in a surfing accident back in Hawaii.

"Hi how was Literature?"

"Excruciating! I loathe that teacher! How can she expect a bunch of sophomore's to analyse much less fathom Shakespeare on their own?"

My head buzzed as I slowly took in what she had just said. "Hey but you read Romeo and Juliet yourself in Fourth Grade and understood it." I said.
