Shane's POV~

I have to say I felt a bit bad about the date. Don't get me wrong, everything seemed perfect, but the rudeness of the other people around kind of cancelled all the good out. Joey and I had earned so many uncomfortable glances and awkward stares, just for being there with each other. It made me feel kind of bad.

During the drive home, I began to construct a plan in my mind. Thankfully, Joey didn't seem too upset by the disrespect we had been shown. I knew that he didn't take criticism very well, and I felt guilty for bringing it upon him. Still, he looked to be in a pretty good mood, despite everything that had happened.

When we arrived back at his and Sawyer's house, Joey went to the bathroom to freshen up. I flaked out on the couch, looking through my phone to see if I could find the contact info I needed. I sighed when my contact book produced nothing. I stood up a rapped my knuckles on the bathroom door, calling in, "Babe, can I use your phone to find a number?"

"Go ahead," Joey yelled back. I strided into the bedroom and grabbed his phone off the bedside table. I opened his contact book and quickly found the person I was looking for. I dialed the number with my phone and let it ring.

"Hello?" the voice on the other line answered.

"Hey Tyler, it's Shane," I propped my phone between my shoulder and ear as I slipped into my pajamas.

"Shane? I haven't seen you in forever!" he exclaimed, sounding pretty excited. "I heard you were moving. How's that going?"

I cringed. "It's not. Lisa and I got in a fight, and she kinda packed up and left without me."

"Er..." I could hear the resentment in his voice, "Sorry I asked."

"It's fine," I shrugged. "We were drifting apart anyway..." I shook my head, clearing my thoughts. "So, I was calling to ask if you knew any nice places I could take someone for a date."

"Wait, wait, I thought you broke up with Lisa," he sounded confused.

"I did, this is someone new," I explained briefly, running a hand through my hair. "I've kinda run out of good ideas for dates."

"Well, who is it?" he demanded. "I can't suggest anything if I don't know what this person likes."

"It's, uh..." I looked over towards the bathroom door. When I spoke, my voice was quiet. "Joey?"

The line went silent. I gritted my teeth, waiting for Tyler's reaction. "Shut up. You have got to be joking."

"I'm serious," I laughed a bit. "He and I decided that we were gonna try things out and see what happens. Last time I took him on a date, we got stared at. I was thinking, if anyone knew a good place for a gay couple, it'd be you."

Tyler laughed. "That would be me. This whole thing is still a bit surprising to me. Congratulations, though. Have you thought about coming out to the world yet?"

"Not yet," I replied. "I've only known I was gay for, like, less than a week. We still need some time to figure everything out."

"Ok," he paused for a second. "There are a few really nice places I know. If you just want something small, there's this fabulous restaurant downtown called "Fran's Free Love Café." It's all about gay pride, and the food there is to die for. But if you were looking for something more large-scale, there's a big gala-type thing coming up. It's for charity, and they're going to have dinner and a band and dance floor all set up. Joey always seemed to me like the kind of person who was into that kind of sweet sentimental stuff. I dunno, you could at least mention it to him."

"Yeah, I think I will," I smiled. "In fact, all your ideas sound great, Tyler. You're a f***ing genius."

"I try," he chuckled. "Anyway, I'll text you the details and stuff."

"Thanks a million," I grinned. "I'll call you tomorrow and let you know what Joey and are I going to do."

"Sounds good," I could tell he was smiling by the tone of his voice. "See you."

I hung up as I heard a muffled cry from the bathroom. I stood up in alarm. "Joey, you ok?"

I heard a surpressed gasp, and Joey choked out, "Yeah, I'm fine."

I walked in to find Joey hunching over the sink. I approached him, reaching out and gently touching his arm. "Hun, come on. Tell me what's wrong."

He sighed. "It's just these stitches. I bent weirdly and I think I pulled something." He closed his eyes and clenched his jaw as he gingerly lifted his tank top to reveal his bandage, turning slightly red at the top from the blood.

"Oh, shit," I muttered, bending down a bit. "That is not good."

"Just give me some of the pain medicine," he shook his head. "I'm sure it'll heal up on its own."

"You're sure?" I tilted my head to the side.

He nodded. "I'll put some polysporin on it if it'll make you feel better."

I exhaled and wrapped my arms around him. "Ok. As long as you're sure."

He smiled at me and kissed my cheek. "I am. I promise I'll let you know if it starts hurting again." He walked out and into our bedroom, pulling off his shirt gently so as not to disturb his wound any more than it already was. "So who were you on the phone with?"

"Just Tyler," I shrugged, sitting down on the edge of the bed. "I was asking him if he knew any places where we wouldn't run into homophobic shitheads. He had some pretty swanky suggestions." I looked over to meet his gaze. "How would you like to go to this dance and dinner thing... with me?"

He laughed. "Are you serious?"

I raised one eyebrow and grinned. "Yeah. I thought it sounded fun."

"Of course I'd like to go," he smiled, hugging me from behind. "It's still early, wanna watch a movie or something?"

I turned my head and closed my eyes, pressing my face into his neck. "Sure thing, hun."

Hmm~ ^V^ Still a bit of a filler chapter. I just HAD to include Tyler, because he's the epitome of awesome. Hopefully since I'm really inspired and stuff I'll be able to get out another chapter before the week is done. I had yesterday off school (Canadian Thanksgiving, you see ;D) so I got some good writing done. Anyway, all these past chapters have been so upbeat. Would anyone like some more depressing feel-y stuff? Or is it just me? :3
