"So, what's your mother like Stephen?" I asked him as we were pulling into a long driveway.
"She's...like any other mother I guess."
I frowned. "Really? That's all your mother is to you? What, no special details I should know before I meet her?"
Stephen was surprised by my outburst and just stared at me like I grew two new heads.
"I-I...she...she has expensive taste. She only cares about herself even though she set out a reward for finding me and my sister. She's in love with his father." Stephen nodded his head over to Thomas who was sitting beside him sleeping.
I leaned forward and put my hand on his shoulder. "I'm sorry Stephen, I really am, but you can't give up on her. Everyone has s little bit of good in them. Sometimes you just have to find it."
Stephen grabs my hand off of his shoulder and holds it in his. "Thank you Alexandra. You are truly an amazing girl."
I smiled and looked out the carriage window. "We're here." I whisper.
Stephen let go of my hand and gently punched Thomas' arm. "Thomas, wake up. You got us into this mess now get up." He said in a more serious manner.
"I'm up Stephen. Get off man!" Yelled Thomas.
He hopped out of the carriage and Stephen and I followed. A few seconds later a middle aged woman ran out of the mansion and down the stairs.
"Stephen! Oh Stephen, my darling boy! Come give your mother a hug and kiss. Where have you been you stupid boy? I have been worried sick!" Said the woman who was obviously Stephen's mother.
Thomas was halfway up the stairs before turning around. "Adelaide, where is my father?"
Stephen's mother briefly looked up at him and went back to squeezing the life out of Stephen.
"He's in the study dear." She replied with an unconcerned tone.
Thomas gestured for me to follow and I great fully did.
"By the way," Thomas called out from inside the doorway. "This is Alexandra. She will be staying with us for a while."
Stephen's mother looked up at me like it was the first time she had even noticed me. She was still hugging Stephen like her life depended on it.
"That's very nice dear." She said.
Thomas frowned and dragged me into the house. "She seems nice." I said more to myself than anyone else.
"Yeah, the best." Muttered Thomas.
I decided it would be best to keep quiet so I silently followed him down one of the many hallways leading to what I would guess was his father's study.
"Can I trust you to stay here?" Asked Thomas as we stopped outside a door.
I looked to the door and back at him. "What's in there?" I ask.
Thomas gave me a small smile before opening the door. "Your new bedroom." He said.
I look in and see the most beautiful room I have ever seen in my life. The floor was made of cedar wood and the walls were white with blue trimmings.
There were several windows surrounding the room and a white and blue canopy bed in the center. A bookshelf and desk were against the wall to the side of the bed stacked full of books and papers.
I turned back to Thomas with wide eyes. "I have never had such a beautiful room before." I gasp out.
Thomas chuckled. "I sure have. This is just one of the spare bedrooms."
I gasp. "I thought you said you didn't have much money?"
Thomas shook his head. "No, I believe I said that I wasn't the wealthiest man on earth. I never said I was poor."
I let out a defeated sigh and walked over to the very welcoming bed and fell down on my back sighing at its softness.
I'm leaving your bags on the table alright?" Asked Thomas. I looked over to him and nodded.
"Alright. I'll let you rest now and either Stephen or I will come back when it's time for dinner." He said leaning against the doorframe watching me closely.
"Thank you." I said to the ceiling.
Thomas chuckled and walked over to the bed. "For what? I kidnapped you, remember?"
I felt a dip in the bed as I shook my head. "Well, for one, you saved me from getting killed by my selfish twin..."
I frown suddenly missing Thanatos' more friendly side. "And two, you didn't leave me stranded in the streets of London like Thanatos told you to."
Thomas surprised me smiling a genuine smile and leaned down to kiss my hand. "Well I can't leave a damsel in distress now can I?"
He laughed and got up from the bed. "You're welcome Alexandra." He said in a monotone before closing the door behind him.
Click.
I sit up and look at the door. 'He did not just lock me in here.'
I frowned and walked over to the door. I grabbed the doorknob and tried to turn it but it wouldn't budge.
'Still not big on trust I see.' I shake my head and lay down on the bed again. 'I might as well get some much needed shut eye.' I think to myself as I crawl under the soft white and blue covers.
'I wonder how my parents and siblings are doing without me.' I try to choke down a sob but fail miserably.
Tears streamed down my flushed cheeks and onto the feather pillow.
'Everyone must think I'm dead by now. Why did Thanatos do this to me?' I sob into my pillow and let out a muffled scream.
'Because he wanted to be head elder but couldn't kill me. So he had a man kidnap me and take me to London where I can't ever come back.'
I look up at the ceiling and wipe my tear stained cheeks with my hand.
"We'll get ready Thanatos because I will take back what's mine. You will pay for what you have done to me...and I will show no mercy." I say as I drift off into a dreamless sleep.
Pictures are courtesy of Google again. Normally I would draw the scene but I'm too lazy to do that so I just found what I liked on Google and used that.
Here's a picture of what Alexa's room looks like...
