My name is Merliah. I am fifteen and I live in New Zealand with my dad. I am straightforward so no offence. Today was my last day of school  so I will be joining the stupid summer camp with my two friends Lisa and Jack. It is always Dad who sends me  to the summer camp every summer thinking that I will be busy and find new friends but there is nothing new that I have seen in the last eight years in the summer camp, leaving those jerks who increase in number every summer. Most important of all why Dad sends me there because he doesn't want me to miss Mom too much or think about the incident but he doesn't know I think about it every time why Mom did this.

"Merliah" calls out dad

"Coming Dad" I say

"Yes Dad" I say as soon as I entered the kitchen

"I have packed everything for your camp, that you will be starting tomorrow" says Dad

"Okay" I say

Then suddenly the door bell rings

"Merliah check who is there" says Dad

I run to open the door. There is standing  Lisa and Jack

"Hey, Merliah" says Jack and Lisa

"Hello" I say

"Who is there?" asks Dad

"Jack and Lisa" I say

"Okay call them in" says Dad

"Let's go to my room" I say

Me, Lisa and Jack run to my room

"So what are your plans for tomorrow?" asks Lisa as we reach my room

"What plans?" I ask

"Plans for tomorrow" says Jack

"Plans for that stupid summer camp?" I ask

"I know we will not enjoy those activities that happen every year but we need to entertain ourselves" says Lisa as she sits on the bed

"I haven't  decided anything for tomorrow" I say

"Do you know what Merliah?" asks Jack

"What" I ask

"Fonder is also coming" says Jack

"What? NO!" I said "He is the biggest jerk i have ever see in my life" I say

"I know" agrees Lisa

"Why doesn't his Mom stop him from coming to the summer camp" I say

Fonder is my biggest enemy, when I saw him first time in the summer camp I knew we are never going to get well with each other and I was right we never did. Me, Lisa and Jack talked and talked until it was eight

"So Merliah bye, see you tomorrow" says Lisa and Jack

"Bye" I say to them"Dad when do you I have to leave for the summer camp?" I ask

"The bus will arrive at eight so you will be leaving at eight" say Dad

"Dad can I go down to meet Mrs. Roger?" I ask

"Why not sure" say Dad

"Okay bye" said I and run down to meet Mrs. Roger

Mrs. Roger has always played a mother figure in my life after Mom's death. She used to live with us when we were in Australia. After Mom's death when we shifted to New Zealand even she came with us. She doesn't have a child of her own so she always considered me as her daughter. Mrs. Roger is quite old and she loves baking.

"Mrs. Roger" I say as I knock the door

"Come in Merliah" says Mrs. Roger

"How do you know it was me?" I ask as I enter the house

"Who else comes to meet me rather than you" says Mrs. Roger  "So you are going to the summer camp tomorrow?" asks Mrs. Roger

"Yes, you know Dad  he sends me every summer" I say

"Yes I know that I even know that you don't like going to the summer camp" says Mrs. Roger

"Yes" I say

"Merliah I will cheer up your mood by few chocolate cookies give me half an hour" says Mrs. Roger as she head towards her kitchen

Mrs. Roger lives in a little house but it's worth exploring. I have always looked at her photos which keeps on the shelf and one of them is my mother's. I have always admired that photo in black and white where my mother waved her hand smiled. Those  comforting brown eyes and her warm smile I still remember.

"Merliah, what are you thinking?" asks Mrs. Roger

"Nothing, but can you tell me why Mom committed suicide?" I ask

Mrs. Roger stands still in shock  by what I said

"I don't know why your mother took this step but I know that she can never commit suicide" says  Mrs. Roger

"So you think it's a murder" I ask

"I already said you that I don't know anything, forget it Merliah the chocolate cookies are ready have them " say Mrs. Roger

After eating the chocolate cookies I leave Mrs. Roger's house. This summer I have a important work up on my sleeves to find the truth behind my mother's death rather than finding reasons to entertain myself in the summer camp.
