Chapter 25

Life is said to be unexpected. There is no moment in our life which is not unexpected there might be something which we may predict but life is meant to be unexpected. My life has been unexpected in whichever angle I see.  

Right now I experiencing the very unexpected moment, Captain Grayson standing in front of my house is something I never thought of or imagined. My eyes are wide open seeing him stand in front of me.

"Won't you invite me in?" he asks

I simply nod as I am lost for words. I move aside and let him enter. He takes a seat and I seat across him.

"I heard you got shot. Are you okay?" he asks

"Yes, I am fine" I reply, it's really weird of him to come to my home to ask how am I when we are not close enough. "Are you here to ask my well-being?" I ask

"No, I am here to tell you something about your mother" he replies

"What about my mother?" I ask as I remember he didn't have anything to tell me about my mother when I went to visit him instead he showed a cold attitude to me.

"When you came to meet me, I thought you were just a teenager who is here to just dig up the past and leave but now when I saw you I think that's not the case. You really want to know what happened to your mother" he says

"I think I have assured you that I am not here to have fun but to find the truth what happened that day. So I seriously want to know what do you have to tell me about my mother" I say

"When I was investigating your mother's case even I found it very suspicious. But the surroundings clearly said that she did commit suicide. There was no forced entry and the poison particles were the only external material found in her body. So we couldn't conclude that someone mixed poison in her food and she drank it with the food item. But the other things which we found made it suspicious. There was no suicide note, she gave no reason why she killed herself, no last wish, nothing was there and when I talked to your father he said that your mother asked him to come home early as they were supposed to go somewhere" he takes a pause

"What did you conclude from that?" I ask eagerly, as it can make things more understandable

"When a person who was getting herself ready to go out, what made her kill herself? There were other things also like your mother hanged her dress which she was supposed to wear when she went out with your father and the place she was supposed to go she even called there to confirm her reservation which was exactly ten minutes before her death. These things made me dig up the case more but something happened which made me close the case declaring it as a suicide" he again takes a pause

"What happened?"

"Someone seized my house and threatened to kill my wife and son. To stop that from happening I needed to close down your mother's case. My wife who was already suffering from a chronic heart disease I couldn't let her die early. So I gave up on the case and declared it as a suicide"  

"Did you find out who did that?" 

"I couldn't as other things happened so I wasn't able to find out who was that person" 

"Why are you telling me all of this all of a sudden?"

"Because I didn't want the same thing to repeat once again"

"But whatever you told me now isn't there in the case file" 

"Because I removed all the information to present it as a clear suicide case" 

"So will you help me?" 

"There is nothing I can do legally as the case was closed and whatever I told cannot be proved at the present instance as the case is eight years old and it has lost its validity"
