I ran through the woods as fast as I could to go tell Hazel what I found. I presume she would want to draw it so taking back a camera would be wise.
I finally make it back and run up to my house through the back door and I run up the stairs. It's only 7:30 so dad and Seph shouldn't be home yet.
I get to my sisters door and knock on it out of breath.
"Hazel!" I yell pounding on the door. She opens and looks at me with a worried expression.
"Nico! oh my God! What happened? Are you hurt?"
I rest my hands on my knees and I'm slightly bent over, trying to catch my breath.
"I-im, fine. Hazel. You gotta come see this!"
"Wait? Did you run all the way here just to tell me you found something in the forest?" Hazel had I paint brush in her hand. She moved it around and the yellow paint on the tip dripped on the floor.
"Uh, yeah."
"Ugh, okay. What did you want to show me?"
I jumped up excitedly, "Okay! It's a surprise, but bring your camera! You'll like it. Trust me."
Hazel sighed and ventured back into her room and got her camera. It's a pretty good camera, she likes taking pictures of things she wants to paint off she can't be there to do it.
She walks back out with also a jacket. "Okay. Let's go."
I run down stairs and out the back door excited for her to see what I found.
We start walking through the dark forest, as it is now pitch black out.
A few minutes of walking Hazel speaks up.
"Where exactly is this 'surprise'?"
"Don't worry. It's only a five minute walk."
We walk the rest of the way in the woods and when I regonize the place, Hazel gasps in surprise at the thing I found.
She runs up to the old tree house circling the tree that holds it, examining the features.
"Woah! This is so cool!" Hazel exclaims and runs around excitedly.
The tree house was held up in a big old tree. It was pretty small, but what do you expect? This thing is probably 50 years old. There we're little pieces of woof nailed to the trunk, acting as steps leading to a carving in the actual tree house, that was supposed to be a door.
There was also no roof. Just a platform with 3 walls. The fourth wall had probably broken or fallen ages ago.
Hazel was standing at different angles snapping pictures with a little click sound at each shot.
"I'm definitely going to draw this." She put her camera down, but still held it, and she looked up once again at the old tree.
"I told you, you would think this was cool." I said crossing my arms in a 'I told you so' state.
"This is amazing!"
I wanted to see if it still held together, so I went to the tree and grabbed to one of the panels making my way to the structure.
"Nico what are you doing?" Hazel called back from behind me.
"I'm seeing if this thing still holds." If it does I can sit up in this place and have my "therapy".
"Be careful. You don't need to go to the hospital tonight."
I climbed to the top and stood on the wood flooring. To my joy, it held. I walked around it the space, going over to the part with no wall and I looked over. It wasn't super high up, but if you fell, you could get hurt.
