Chapter 13

Echo's POV

I wasn't one for lots of drinking, and I wasn't one for presents, but I suppose tonight I had lots of them. Enough to where I thought about dividing them up among my friends. But I suppose that'd be rude right?

I was standing alone looking up at the sky, drinking water, still no shoes, and surprisingly my feet are clean. Tonight I stood here thinking about my mom, my brother, my dad, and most of all...my Ethan. Gannon doesn't really know about how Ethan and I knew each other in the way we did. I don't know if he knows the promise he made me, the one that won't be kept, but I think of Ethan a lot.

"I get the sense you're upset." I heard the one voice that gives me butterflies. The one that belongs to the man I don't know the first name of, still.

"Your senses are wrong." I said and I felt his body brush up against mine. He was to my left now and his cologne was sending my insides into a frenzy. My breathing picked up, and I felt my heart race.

"Weren't we suppose to set aside our differences tonight Principessa." He spoke. I sighed and shook my head.

"Why are you so obsessed with me? I don't even know you. You don't know me. Why do you insist on pursing me? You're older than me, richer than me, a hell of a lot more scary. Why chose me? You could have anyone, but you continually go after me." I said crossing my arms. He smiled, a genuine smile.

"Because of that. No one dares to talk back. No one dares to anger me because I'm scary, deadly. But you, you know this, at the time you didn't yet you still proceeded to cut me down in front of an audience. No one's ever done that before, no one's ever spoke to me with blatant disrespect, with the disregard to my feelings, and tell me how it is, where to go, and how to get there." He said and now he was a few inches from me. "I find it wonderful, and then I look at you and...you're intelligent. You're kind, and you really care even if you don't want to admit it Little One." He said and I was breathing faster.

"We don't know each other, and even if we did, what makes you think I'd actually want to be with someone like you?" I said and leaned on one hip. His smile was doing things to me.

"Because, you're the type of person who always sees the good, and always wants to help. If you didn't feel anything you wouldn't be breathing so irregularly. Your face and ears wouldn't be bright red. Trust me when I say this Principessa, I can give you everything, and anything just let me." He was really close now, and my arms were at my side. His hand ghosted over the bandage. "I'll tell you a secret, if you accept my present." He said and I furrowed my eyebrows.
