Chapter 21.
I have never hopped out of a chair as fast as I did that moment.
“Sash, you need to go upstairs. George is back and he is drunk and angry.” Jamie’s words were swirling through my head as I tip toed behind Jamie out into the hallway. I could hear loud banging, slamming and grumbling coming from the kitchen which made my heart race. I concentrated on my breathing and my footsteps as I reached the end of the stairs, trying not to make even the smallest of sound.
Jamie had put his foot quietly on the first step and reached out to grab my hand just as a terrifyingly loud shout came from the kitchen.
“NEVER AGAIN!” George’s voice boomed out from the kitchen, followed by loud footsteps coming into the hallway. I had honestly never felt so small and scared in all my life. Jamie tried to pull me up the stairs behind him, not even bothering about making any noise but before we had even reached the 3rd step, something yanked my back down the stairs, causing me to tumble down and land at someones feet.
My whole body trembled as I slowly looked up at the person before me. George’s twisted angry face glared down at me as he reached down and pulled me up by my arm. His fingers pressed into my skin, cutting off any circulation. I really felt like I would pass out. Jamie ran down the stairs and tried to pull me from George’s grip but George merely pushed him backwards causing Jamie to whack his head off the wall and slump to the ground.
“JAMIE!” I screamed, the terror in me reaching new heights. Shit had just got serious and I was literally fearing for my life.
George’s hand gripped my arm even tighter, causing me to yelp out in pain. He lowered his face so he was only a few inches away from mine, and I could smell the stench of alcohol and another smell I couldn’t quite put my finger on.
“Listen here you little shit. My future wife has locked herself in the bathroom and won’t even look at me. And who’s fault is that? I warned you not to make me angry.” He literally spat in my face, each word sending a spray of liquid in my face. That plus the pain in my arm was making it almost unbearable.
“LET GO OF ME” I screamed, not even realising what I was doing, and before I knew it, George had knocked me back, causing me to hit into the table, hitting my head in the process.
The last thing I remember was someone screaming and then blackness....

George had pushed me back after I had tried to grab Sasha from him. She looked so helpless and scared standing there as he gripped his arm, that I had to do something. I always knew there was something wrong with that man, I mean seriously he was a freaking psychopath!
I didn’t really know Elaine that well, back when she was living in America but I don't remember hearing my mom and dad talk about her in hushed whispers and let me tell you, they hadn’t a nice word to say for her.
God, I was so jealous of Sasha back then. Too me, she had the perfect life. A nice Mom and a nice dad, while my mom was always away doing god knows what and my dad tagged me along out of pity.
