Unexpected

Chapter 21

Ava's Pov:

"What are you doing?" I gap at him as his pants are removed from his body and he is left in his boxers, only his boxers. I catch myself examining his body that is covered in more tattoos then I had originally imagined. I am snapped back into focus when he makes a cheeky remark.

"Like what you see?" He gives me a devious wink before laughing and slowly heading towards the water. He puts his feet in, and I shiver at even the thought of being in that freezing water.

"You're not really going in, are you?" I ask, not bothering to answer his last question. I can't see him going in the water, all breath would be sucked out of your lungs due to the cold temperature. I can already feel the cool water surrounding me and swallowing me up, making my body still as I shiver in attempt to get warmer. No way in hell am I going in that water.

"Sure." He shrugs, taking another step forward and hugging himself before repeating it again. I cannot believe he is actually serious about something for once.

"You know," I giggle, "It's easier to go in all at once." I give him a helpful use of advice and he turns to me, smirks, and dives in the cold water. Little droplets sprinkle my face and I step back, wrapping my jacket around me as tight as I can to shield me from the cold. I wait for Louis to swim back to the top, and my eyes scan the top of the water for his head but it's not there. I begin to worry before I see his body appear, his hair sticking to his face as he looks at me with a shaky smile.

"I am so cold," He remarks, shivering before he adds another comment, "you know, it would be warmer if you were in here." I ignore his last statement and just laugh because no matter how hard he tries to convince me to go into the lake, I will not listen to him by any means.

"I guess you'll just have to survive without me." I sigh, giving out an over exaggerated laugh as I watch him walk back towards the shore. He begins to head straight towards me, "I swear, Louis, if you try and hug me while you are soaking then I will steal your car keys and drive away without you." I bluff, and he can see right through me because he doesn't stop until he is only a few inches away from me.

"Who said anything about trying to hug you?" He gives me a devious side smile and he suddenly grabs me bridal style and I scream at the top of my lungs, frantically kicking as he slowly walks back towards the water.

"Oh my gosh, Louis! I am going to kill you if you-" Cold water begins to rush towards me and I flail my arms upwards in attempt to get back to the surface to retrieve some air, but no matter how hard and I kick my feet I go no where. I manage to barley come above the water and choke out a, "I can't swim!" Before I go back under, letting the water engulf me until I feel arms wrap around my body, pulling me upwards.

"I am so sorry, I didn't know you couldn't swim," he begins but I cut him off but shoving his head under water, laughing. He lets go of me and begins to panic because his hands frantically cling onto my body again, lifting me above the water so only my waist is under the lake.

"I am messing, I can swim!" My face breaks out into a laughter, I didn't believe him to actually fall for me being not able to swim, "You should've seen your face. You were so terrified." I can't stop laughing but Louis doesn't smile, he just simply lets go off me and goes back to the shore, picking up his clothes. "Oh, come on, Louis, it was just a joke." Despite the multiple goose bumps covering my cold body, I still manage to keep a good spirit. I have pretty much forgot all about earlier, and the only thing that I am focusing on now is Louis.

"It's not funny." He turns to me, frowning as he heads back towards the car, not bothering to help me trudge through my wet clothes through the sand. I almost trip a few times, but I manage to get up the hill and to his car, where he hands me a towel. For some reason, I feel like this was all planned, even though I know it wasn't.
