Alex's p.o.v.
I stared down at the large man crumpled on the floor and knew I was going to be sick. Either that or pass out. Nick squeezed my shoulder in sympathy and sighed. “Sit down, it will help a little. It'll never be easy, but you learn to do what you must to protect your friends, your family, and yourself.” I nodded quickly and put my head between my knees. Isaac murmured something to Ravyn and she went to check on the women, and then he patted my shoulder lightly.
“Nick's right.” He shrugged and Adrian snorted.
“While your imparting your great wisdom...why don't one of you fools tell me how to get bloodstains out my shirt.” He complained and I couldn't help but laugh.
“Burn it.” Isaac answered. “And buy a new shirt.”
“Soak it in peroxide, and when the stain is gone wash it like you normally would.” All the guys gave me a strange look and I blushed. It was then that I realized that they didn't know anything about me other than my first name. “You guys do realize that I'm gay right?” I asked slowly and none of them even turned their heads.
“And that matters why? It's a free country.” Ayden huffed. “Honestly, have you met any of us? Nick is the most cynical ass-hat I know, Roze is beautifully psychotic, Ravyn even more so, Isaac is...there really isn't a way to describe what's wrong with Isaac. I have a pregnant werewolf wife, and to top it all off. We turn into big hairy wolves whenever we want to. And you think liking guys is an issue? You really haven't lived kid.” I couldn't help but giggle.
“I suppose you do have a point. Out of curiosity, I know Nick is a true alpha, but isn't he younger than you, Ayden?” I asked softly.
“Nick looks pretty good for being in his late 60's doesn't he?” Roze called from over my shoulder. “It's a good thing I like older men, don't you think darling?” She teased. “Are we still having dinner with Melissa and Sam?” She asked distracting Adrian who was still looking at us as if we were freaks.
“We are you know.” I offered hesitantly.
“What?”
“Freaks, your expression says you think we're all freaks, and we are. But so are you.” Adrian sighed a breath of relief.
“You just scared the hell out of me. It worried me until you explained, there for a second I though you were in my head.” He shook his head. I could be you know. I projected and he went pale and looked at Nick and Roze. I couldn't help it, I giggled at his panicked expression. “Make him stop it Nick.” Adrian ordered.
“Alex? What's he doing?” Nick cocked his head to the side.
“He's screwing with my head, it's not cool.” Adrian muttered darkly and glared at me.
“We can all do it, it just takes a little concentration, unlike when we're wolves. It's how we talk, not even silver can block it. Don't worry we can't read your mind, you have to project what you want to say, and you have to have some ability. Azalea can hear us no problem when we want you too, being a witch and all.” Roze cast a wolfish grin at him and looked at Nick.
Roze's p.o.v.
I really needed to talk to Mel, I had a sneaking suspicion that I wasn't going to like the answer. I leaned over and pressed a kiss to Nick jaw and he groaned softly. “I'm going to take Tasha to see Mel, we need to keep track of when she's going to pop.” I flashed a smile at Tasha and Nick nuzzled my neck sniffing softly. He pulled back with a strange expression.
“Are you okay? Your scent is off again.” His brow creased. “Maybe I'm just going insane.” He complained lightly. “Not that there's anything wrong with the way you smell, actually, you smell even more edible than before. Which I didn't think was possible.” He leered playfully. Ayden and Isaac both leaned in to sniff me and I growled at them and looked about to have a heart attack.
“You're right Nick, she does smell different, she smells...” Ayden trailed off and his eyes widened in surprise. I don't know, so keep your mouth shut. I warned knowing only he would hear me. “It's strange, I didn't know your scent could change.” Tasha glanced at me as the boys muttered back and forth, her eyes full of questions.
“Behave, children. Yes, that means you too Nick.” I warned playfully as Tasha and I slid into the car. She didn't say anything as we drove through town to Mel and Brendon's office. Brendon was sitting behind the counter looking through files. “Hey, is Melissa busy right now?” He looked up and shook his head.
“Nope, not at all darlin'. Go on back and see her, third door on the right.” He flashed a grin and shrugged. “Business is slow, unless you count the lycans that are coming from the surrounding territories for pointless crap.” He rolled his eyes and went back to sorting the files. I followed Tasha down the hall and found Mel sitting and talking to a rather large wolf. He stood and looked at us strangely and then back at Mel.
“Sorry, Mel. Brendon said you weren't busy.” The male wolf was watching Tasha as she rubbed her large stomach.
“Roze! Actually, I was just about to call you. Meet Jason Granite, Jason meet Rozelynn Blackstone-Spencer.” I nodded to him all the while taking in his sheer size. He stood at 6'6” with shoulders that seemed to be a mile wide, thick dark brown hair and dark eyes. He had a scruffy beard on his face.
“No offense ma'am, but I really need to talk to the alpha here.” Jason admitted.
“You mean my husband?” I snorted softly.
“I heard there was a true alpha and alpha female.” He admitted curiously.
“Yes, and again, I point out you mean my husband and myself.” I rolled my eyes. “I can smell you disbelief. Sit.” He dropped onto the floor sitting and stared up at me with wide eyes.
“You're the alpha female?” He looked awe-struck. “This is incredible! Can I get your number so I can call you and your husband. I would really like to speak with both of you.” He was oddly enthusiastic about it. I gave him my number and watched him practically bounce out the door. I turned to Mel and explained why I was here.
