It was a few days before the yearly celebration of Halloween. The time of year where children go trick or treating and teenagers get wasted in their spooky costumes at a house party. Well, for Camila she was born that day, the day she took her first breath and the first interaction with the world.

Lauren had been stalling getting the human a gift, because she had no idea what to get her and she hadn't left the house since the incident the other day. However, Camila wasn't excepting anything. Lauren never went shopping, only once a year and she'd go to the quietest parts of town. She couldn't risk getting notice or remembered by anyone but she was willing to break it for Camila.

She heard the keyboard being typed aggressively from the study, she knew Camila had been up all night writing so she decided not to disturb her. She tip toed pass the study and seen Camila staring sternly at the screen moving her fingertips swiftly. She paused reading over the new paragraph she had just typed and, using her index finger, pushed up her glasses onto the bridge of her nose firmly, mumbling to herself. Her hair was shoved into a messy bun as light brown strains of hair fell softly besides her face, even when she didn't put effort into her appearance, the end result would always be perfect. Lauren sighed softly as her shoulders sunk next to her, exhaling peacefully seeing the beautiful human at work. She continued downstairs, entering the kitchen boringly and flipped the kettle on. She set out the mug and teabag pouring the scorching hot water into the cup and mixing around the tea, adding milk once she had threw out the teabag. She had two sugars and stirred it slowly, taking it back to Camila. She entered the study silently, making Camila jump slightly when she placed the warm mug down on the desk. She looked at what the older girl had brought her and smiled happily when she picked up the tea.

"Thank you." Camila sipped her tea and cupped her hands around the mug, absorbing the heat from the warm liquid. Surprisingly, the tea was delicious and it was milky how Camila liked it.

"So, how's work?" Lauren asked from behind the smaller girl, who was sat at her desk infront of the bright laptop. Lauren placed her hand on Camila's shoulder, squinting her eyes trying to read the story on the screen.

"I'm close to finishing it." Camila sighed stressfully but, Lauren couldn't understand what was wrong with almost finishing the book? Surely it was a good thing. "But, I can't decide on a ending."

"What is it about?" Lauren asked as a shiver crept down Camila's back when she felt the cold touch of Lauren on her shoulder. However, she found it comforting that she had someone there to talk to her.

"It's a horror romantic." Camila shrugged not being very open about her work and she scrolled over the electronic pages on her computer.

"I'm going out today... so, I'll be back later." Lauren stayed quietly as Camila furrowed her eyebrows confusingly, but soon nodded in approval realising the monster did have a life outside these four walls.

After the long drive to town, Lauren went from shop to shop. She dressed quite trendy by wearing black ripped jeans, white sweater and black shaded sunglasses. Luckily, she blended right in and nobody even looked twice at her. She entered an old antique shop that was on the far side of town, she new Camila liked old things. She danced around the shop looking clearly at lots of different items.

Suddenly, something caught her eye. In a wide glass case was a vintage black type writer, which looked brand new. She immediately called the shopkeeper over and practically demanded that she wanted this item. It was extremely expensive, but Lauren couldn't care less. The shopkeeper placed it in the box carefully as Lauren handed him a wad full of cash, before picking up the item and leaving.

She focuses her eyes on a particular person, who looked familiar and Lauren realised it was Camila. She looked down at the box and cursed mentally, before using her extra speed to arrive back at the house. Within a few minutes she was home and she had to find a way to wrap the present.

Meanwhile, Camila had, once again, got a taxi to the nearest village and decided to pick up essentials for Halloween. Camila entered the small, local shop she had once been to and met Kenzie Westhead; the shopkeeper. She entered the shop hearing the bell ring from above the door, announcing her arrival. Kenzie looked up from her newspaper lazily and widened her eyes, placing the paper down.

"Haven't seen ya' in a while." The energetic lady shouted loudly pacing over to the Camila, with a bright smile across her face.

"Indeed, I've come to get Halloween decorations." Camila stated flashing a small smile to Kenzie as she signalled Camila to the shelve at the back of the shop.

Camila nodded towards Kenzie as she started picking up decorations she'd like for her house. Kenzie leaned against the shelves watching Camila, making her feel uncomfortable.

"So, how's the creepy place?" The ginger lady asked from besides Camila as she rolled her eyes discretely and just shrugged in a reply.

She wasn't in the mood for conversation, even though she had been isolated in that house for weeks and the only person she could socialise with was the blood-sucking creature. Camila had finally decided on all her decorations and took them to the toll for Kenzie to scan. And so she did. Camila packed away all of her items and before she exited the shop she turned Kenzie.

"Wou-would you like to go for lunch?" Camila asked awkwardly as she cursed mentally at her stutter at the beginning of the sentence.

"I'd like that." Smiled Kenzie, slightly surprised by Camila's offer as she picked up the keys from the till and both girls exited the shop, as Kenzie locked the front door of it.

Kenzie directed them to the town's cafe and Kenzie bragged about how nice the shortbread is because of how often she came here. The cafe was quiet as Camila and Kenzie sat down at a two seater table near the window. Camila's eyes drifted around the menu, trying to decided what she'd like to eat. Once she made her mind up she decided she'd have burger and chips, whilst Kenzie had soup of the day with ham and cheese sandwiches. Kenzie quickly rose from her table and darted to the till before Camila could even hand her money for her food. Kenzie arrived back over to the table, with two glasses of cokes in her hands.

"I ordered everything." Kenzie boasted as she smiled mischievously, sitting back down at the table and handed Camila her drink.

"How much do I owe you?" Camila hummed taking out her small purse and opening it up causally.

"Nothing." Kenzie chuckled as she picked up her glass taking a few sips and earning a glare of Camila; she's never let anyone pay for her meals.

"Take this." Camila said firmly sliding over a fiver, since she knew the meal cost less than 5 pounds.

Kenzie shook her head collecting another glare of Camila as she snatched the fiver and shoved it closer to her. Kenzie just laughed continuing to shake her head as Camila whipped away the fiver knowing she wouldn't be getting through to her anytime soon.

"I'm paying next time." Camila said seriously, shoving the money back into her lilac purse which was put away into her bag.

"There's a next time?" Kenzie smirked slightly causing the brown haired girl to blush and look down at her hands awkwardly.

Dinner flew by quickly and both girls enjoyed themselves tremendously. The whole lunch was full of laughter and giggles until their stomachs were in stitches. They both talked about their family and general conversation getting to know each other better.

"I can't eat anymore." Camila exhaled deeply as she giggled slightly pushing away the plate of shortbread.

"Take it home with you." Kenzie smiled pushing away her finished plate as Camila nodded wrapping her leftovers into a few napkins.

Camila called a taxi for herself as both girl exited the cafe, hovering outside of it. Once the taxi arrived, both of them said their salutations to one another as Kenzie pulled Camila into a warm hug. They then pulled away before Camila hopped into the taxi and started her journey home.
