Camila was exhausted and so was Lauren. They both had been using their super speed to travel across the town. They eventually made it to the outskirts of the city and Lauren decided that they both needed a rest. The two dark haired girls stood outside the crappy hotel as Camila took a deep breath in and she could already smell humans.
"I can't do this Lauren." Camila panicked, taking a big step backwards and clutching her suitcase in her right hand.
"Yes you can." Lauren said firmly as she gripped Camila's hand tightly and pulled her into the hotel.
After all these months, Lauren had learnt to control herself, so being around a bunch of humans would be a piece a cake (she hoped). However, this would be a challenge for Camila, an impossible challenge.
The two dark haired girls had passed the front doors and were officially in the hotel. Camila glanced around at the empty lobby, which was occupied by a front desk, a couple of sofas and a door that led deeper into the building. Lauren tugged Camila along to the booking desk and began talking to the purple haired lady with backcombed hair, looking rather bizarre. Camila squeezed her eyes shut and gripped hold of Lauren's hand as tightly as she could, digging her nails into the side of Lauren's hand anxiously.
Inhaling the new scent of the human, Camila bit down on her lower lip as she could hear blared out muffles of Lauren's and the worker's conversation. She could sense her pulse and could hear the sound of the human's heartbeat pumping away, taunting Camila to bury her fangs into the her veins. Just as she felt her fangs extracting out, Lauren pulled her away, jingling the keys in between her fingertips and continuing further into the hotel, whilst their baggage trailed behind them.
When Camila fought it was going to become easier, she started picking up scents of different humans each time she passed a hotel door. Lauren felt the brunette re-grip her hand again, a sign that Camila was getting the uncontrollable urge, as Lauren quickened her pace down the corridor.
Eventually, they reached their room and Camila ran inside, before she could do anything drastic. Lauren locked the door and they both dropped their luggage at the door tiredly. Camila trudged into the bathroom and had a long stare in the mirror of herself as she turned the cold tap on. She ducked down and splashed the ice cold liquid over her face. Once she looked back up, she could see Lauren in the reflection of the mirror, just staring at Camila with an expressionless countenance.
Camila averted her eyes somewhere else and grabbed the hand towel, then began drying herself off quickly. She strolled out of the bathroom and leaned on the door frame, with her arms folded as she watched Lauren gaze out of the window at the sunset disappearing on the horizon line. Camila tip toed over to Lauren and stood next to the green eyed girl, both of them barely grazing shoulders. Camila's guilty eyes were sunken sadly, diverting her chocolate orbs from outside the window to her feet.
"Why did you kill him?" Lauren broke the silence in the room and continued to just stare endlessly out of the room.
"I didn't mean to, I--"
"Stop with that bullshit, Camz." Lauren interjected. "You got a weapon and stabbed him... your intentions were clear."
Camila was caught off guard by Lauren's interruption as she fiddled with her fingers awkwardly, feeling even more of the guilt.
"I... I... wanted to be free." Camila started. "Everyday, sitting in that chair, my mind only had two things on repeat; escaping and blood."
"And what about me?" Lauren said with a hurt tone to her voice, forcing herself to not make any eye contact with Camila as she would instantly give in. "Did you ever think about me? Or was I just apart of your great escape?"
"I did--"
"Then why didn't you stay in that fucking chair?!" Lauren yelled, slamming her hand down on the window sill and taking a deep breath in to calm herself down as she clenched her jaw in anger. "Jesus, all you had to do was follow the treatment plan and get out of this addiction!"
"I do-don't kno-know, I'm so-sorry." Camila croaked, feeling her brown orbs fill up and her throat beginning to become tight.
"I didn't mean to snap like that." Lauren sighed as she pinched the bridge of her nose and running her fingertips through the roots of her hair stressfully. "It's just... Alfredo saved my life years ago and he was a good man, one of the nicest people in the vampire council, but now he's gone."
"I wish I could take back what I did." Camila sincerely apologised and for once she was remorseful about someone she had killed, which Lauren had taken note of. "I really am sorry."
Lauren nodded, wiping away the tears forming in her eyes as Camila intertwined their fingers together and Lauren caressed the back of Camila's hand with her thumb. This was Lauren's silent forgiveness. Although, what Camila did was wrong, she was sorry for it and that alone was a miracle. To hear Camila was sorry for killing someone was an improvement.
"Lauren?"
The taller girl nodded lightly, quirking her brow up for Camila's continuance.
"I never want to kill someone again."
Lauren knitted her eyebrows together in utter shock and confusion as she stared down at the brunette, who was now gazing out of the window at the early evening sky.
A sad/guilty expression painted across her face, which was enough for Lauren to understand Camila's sudden change in heart. It wasn't like Lauren was going to let the brunette drink human blood again, but to hear Camila commit to it was a relieving feeling. It'll make it a hell of a lot easier for Lauren to control the brunette and to know Camila was coming out of her reckless, blood-lust era was a good thing.
"I'm sorry for bringing you into all of this." Lauren sighed and Camila could tell she was blaming herself for this by the look on her face.
"Lauren, listen to me." Camila spoke calmly, cupping the side of Lauren's face and glaring into her green orbs. "I chose this and I brought myself into this, so don't blame yourself."
Lauren just diverted her gaze to the floor, biting her lower lip as Camila leaned forward and pecked Lauren's lip. Lauren glanced back up and flashed a sad smile as she snaked her arms around the brunette's waist. Camila slid her hands to the back of Lauren's neck as Lauren reattached their lips more eagerly.
She pulled Camila's body closer to her and deepened their kiss, running her tongue across Camila's lower lip, requesting for entrance. Camila gladly allowed and Lauren re-explored the brunette's mouth with her skilful tongue. Lauren pushed Camila up against the window sill and placed her hands besides the brunette, so she was trapped. Lauren attacked the side of Camila's neck with little kisses as the younger girl let out giggles from the ticklish sensation Lauren was creating. Lauren smiled against the brunette's skin when she heard Camila's adorable laugh.
"I love you." Camila whispered, kissing the side of Lauren's head and slithered her arms around the taller girl's waist.
"I love you too." Lauren grinned happily and showered Camila face in more little kisses as the two girls chuckled together.
