Tapos itong mga 'raulong kaibigan niya, nakalimutan yata na hindi outing ang pakay niya kundi date, ayun sumama rin ang buong banda. Kinda works in the end kasi kung wala sila, solo niya susuongin ang interrogation 2.0 ng Mendoza squad.
Facing Maine's siblings was like being questioned by a panel.
Except Dean. He's cool with him. He likes that kid.
What he didn't expect was the backlash of the, sige na nga- 'excursion' ng grupo nila.
He'd categorized their hometown fans into two groups - being the son of Laguna that he is, either people are too shy to approach him or they are too used to seeing him to bother him. Normal na sa community niya na pakalat-kalat siya kung saan saan kaya naman only a handful of people asked for autographs and pictures that day.
Pretty good day, generally so he didn't expect the aftermath the following day.

The picture on the first tabloid is of him carrying Matti. They were making faces at each other. Pretty adorable actually; except the headline claims:

Kalong-kalong niya si Matti noon habang ibinababa ni Kuya John and Ate Nikki ang mga gamit pam-pictorial sa anak sa parking lot ng EK.
The baby stared at him for a long while. 'Nangingilala' sabi ni Kuya John.
RJ made a face. Matti giggled and proceeded to wriggle in his hold.
"Awww, Matti likes you!" Ate Nikki cooed at them.
You and I are going to get along just fine, little man!
Just then he felt a warm, wet sensation running down his shirt.
He looked at Matti disbelievingly.
Baby boy gave him a gummy smile as if saying 'what? I'm an angel!' but probably also 'did you like my present? Enjoy!'
"Um, Kuya...? Ate...?" He held the boy away from him.
"Sabi nga ni Nikki," Kuya John took the now-happy baby from his arms, "Matti likes you! Hindi lang basta kung sinu-sino ang iniihan nitong anak ko. Welcome to the family, Alden! haha!"
Tapos dumating si Maine kasama sila Kuya Nico, Coleen at Dean.
"Ba't mapanghe dito?"
The accompanying picture in the tabloid is of him in between Coleen and Ate Nikki who are both holding on to his arms. They are both looking at him as if hanging on to his words. He looked constipated.
Pretty Boy Alden, pinagsabay i-date ang dalawang GF! -Bandera proclaims.
Sa hindi malamang kadahilanan, natagpuan na lang ni RJ na napapagitnaan siya ni Coleen at Ate Nikki habang naglilibot sila sa park. His brain went Alert! Alert! Danger! Evacuate immediately!
Pero bago pa siya makatakas, naka-abraso sa kanya ang magkapatid.
"So Alden, ba't mo nagustuhan ang kapatid namin?"
"Nakailang girlfriends ka na? Yung totoo?"
"Are you gay? Nabasa ko kasi somewhere na kayo ni Je--?"
"I googled you and there's all this issue on drugs, models, after-party drinking--?"
"Wait, wait—magkwento ka muna ng nangyari sa New York!"
"Nagpunta ka daw kay Tatay? What do you think of our Dad?"
"Who's your favourite Mendoza sibling bukod kay Meng?"
"Sinong mas maganda sa amin ni Ate Nikki?"
"Hoy Coleen, ano ba, ba't ganyan ang tanong mo? 'Wag mong pine-pressure si Tisoy. Pero sino sa tingin mo, Alden?"
TULONG! SOMEBODY HELP PLEASE!
"Ah... eh... ano..."
Luminga-linga siya sa paligid. Ang alam niya kasi si Maine talaga ang kasabay niya maglakad. Nasan na ba--?
And then he saw her walking with Je and Val and Sam, laughing among themselves.
Oh man, kung anu-ano na siguro ang kinuwento ng mga mokong na yun kay Maine.
"Maine!" He sent her a panicked look.
Lumingon ito sa kanya.
"Alden!" There was a mischievous smirk on her face. "Stop biting your lip!"
Nagtawanan ang barkada niya.
Oh sh*t! They told her that story. As soon as this is over, he's going to kill his friends! Damm*t!
Pero ang pinaka malala sa lahat-
Alden Richards, may secret BOYFRIEND? Abante headlines.
It was a picture of him and Nico with the guy's arm around his neck. Nico was smiling while he looked nervous. Pretty incriminating without the context. Kung alam lang nila ang totoong nangyari... hay.
What really happened was that while the girls were walking ahead of them, Nico suddenly came from behind and slung his arm around his neck, strangling him a little.
"Uy--?" bati niya.
"Yeah, hey, listen-subukan mo lang saktan ang kapatid ko, papatirin ko yang mukha mo; kakatasan ko yang ba**g mo; at hinding-hindi ka na makakadaan sa Bulacan."
Uhhhh... whut?
Medyo nagbuffer ang hinawa ni RJ. The guy said it all with a smile on his face, not breaking a stride.
"We cool?"
Napalunok si RJ.
"Yessir"
"Cool" Tinapik-tapik nito ang mukha niya. "I like you, bro. You guys play good songs. Keep it up!"
The Nico walked ahead na parang walang nangyari.
Lumingon ito sa kanya at sumenyas – 'I'm watching you'

After the date, Maine assured him that her siblings liked him. And more importantly, they were harassing him on purpose. Kinda like can-you-handle-our-crazy type of test. Tatay's orders, Maine rolled her eyes. Which whew! - medyo nakahinga sya ng maluwag WAIT-- whut?
Panira pa yung mga tsismis na nagsilabasan kinabukasan.
Tapos ito namang si Je, tawa ng tawa.
