Whale was right, Emma thought to herself silently as another contraction hit her. They weren't completely terrible yet and she wanted to spend as much time as she could with her whole family before all the craziness hit. Pretty soon her heart rate monitor would start giving it away.
She looked over at Killian who smiled. As mad as she was at him she hadn't blown up, she hadn't started screaming and sobbing and making a fool of herself. They had both been mature adults and while she would hold it over his head for the rest of her life, they could slowly work through this.
"Hey dad? Is there somebody at the Sheriff's station keeping an eye on things?" Emma asked.
"Ruby is there with Leroy, I hope they can handle anything that comes up because I am not going anywhere but home or here for the foreseeable future." Charming said decidedly and plunked himself down on the couch to prove his point.
"Well that future might not be so far off." Emma struggled to adjust herself into a more comfortable sitting position as everybody in the room snapped to attention. "Oh all of you calm down, nothing is going to happen for like another hour but somebody should probably tell Whale." David shot back up to his feet and nearly sprinted out the door.
Emma looked at Killian again and he was a bit pale. She had a sinking feeling that he might run off again but he gulped and moved his hand towards her, silently asking permission. She gave him a small smile and reached her hand out to meet his half way. "Relax, Captain. Everything is going to be fine."
"I'm sure it will be, love." Killian nodded, seemingly trying to convince himself more than anything else.
Charming came back into the room well before Whale who was taking his sweet time. "I guess I was right about this new royalty. How far apart are you contractions?"
  "About 10 minutes."
"Alright, I'm going to need everybody out until the babies are born. You're all just going to get in the way."
As expected, nobody moved. They didn't want to leave her. "Well we may be friends but I don't want to see any more of you than I have to." Regina half smiled and led Henry out of the room with her, he didn't protest.
"Mom, Dad you can be the first ones in if you want as long as you leave now." Emma bargained.
"Alright fine. The first ones in." Snow huffed and led her husband out the door.
"Where do you think you're going, sailor?" Emma quirked an eyebrow when Killian let go of her hand and took a couple steps away.
  "I just thought-" he started.
"You're not going anywhere. Not again." Emma said sternly. He put his hand back in hers and nodded. She kept her eyebrows furrowed but kissed the back of his hand. She was mad but she knew everything was going to get very painful so she needed some comfort.
"I will get a female doctor in here for the actual delivery but right now I'm going to check your dilation." Whale informed them and Emma set her face about the discomfort that was about to come. "Alright, you're at about 3cm but every body is different so you could have these kids anywhere from 30 minutes to a day from now."
"Thanks Doc." Emma said sarcastically as another contraction hit her and she closed her eyes.
"Emma?" Killian asked.
"Relax. When I'm in real pain, I'll take it out on you. I promise."
"I deserve it, love." He let go of her hand to pull a chair over to the side of her bed. They could be here for a while. "Hey Swan?"
"Yes Killian?"
"We never truly discussed names..." He trailed off, not wanting to seem like he was asking for a say.
"I picked some out." She replied simply.
"Do I get to hear them?" He laughed slightly. She smiled, her eyes still closed.
"Maybe." He rubbed his thumb over the back of her hand, he wasn't actually sure what she meant by that.
3 hours later and Emma was miserable. Her contractions were mere minutes apart and what was making it worse was her magic. She had refused an epidural simply because she believed she could handle it. But she was in pain and the babies didn't like that, and Emma's own magic was going haywire along with them. Lights were flickering or shattering, chairs were floating and dropping to the ground, Killian feared his hand might be burned from the bright white sparks coming off her hand but he didn't dare move away or let go.
Whale came back in but took a step back as another contraction hit and his clipboard flew out of his hands and smashed against the opposite wall.
"Okay Miss Swan, let's see if it's time yet." He laughed nervously, the last time magic had been used in this hospital had been by her and she had thrown him against a wall. "Yeah, 10cm. I'll send for Dr Sully and some nurses so they can get you ready."
"10cm means it's basically time." Emma bit out so Killian could understand. This was no fun, she hadn't had the choice of an epidural with Henry since she was a criminal and they seemingly didn't want to waste it on her but in this instance she wished she had it. Killian stood up and kissed Emma's forehead, still afraid to kiss her on the lips as much as he wanted to.
The female doctor came in with a hoard of nurses all in light pink scrubs and bright blue latex gloves. Emma had only seen this doctor once before when she had an examination. She was a tall woman already but she wore heels. She kept her long brown hair up in a crooked bun seemingly all the time. Emma was surprised to see that she had dyed the tips of her hair blue and purple, that didn't seem like the kind of thing a doctor would do. Her burgundy glasses matched her heels today, how very unimportant.
Emma was yanked from her train of thought by an excruciating contraction that caused her to grunt out loud. Goddamn that hurt.
"Alright Emma, let's get your kids out of there huh?" Emma wanted to punch her in the face for being to calm and put together but she just nodded with another grunt that turned into a yell. "That's a girl, let it out." The doctor smiled as she got in position between Emma's legs. "I'm going to need a great big push from you, Savior." Emma followed her instructions with a scream.
