Killian was officially worried. When Emma hasn't answered his call on Wednesday afternoon, he called her again. Assuming that she was just extra mad at him that day, he decided to let her be for the rest of the day. But when he didn't answer his three phone calls the next day he was ashamed to find that he was angry.
He had grown accustomed to her bi-weekly updates that at least have him some sense of being in her life after he fucked it all up. In one of her messages she had even said that she wasn't going to completely cut him off, she would allow him to meet them at some point. He still hasn't been able to explain it to her over the phone, he needed to see her.
But now he was angry with a hint of worry underneath it. She thought that he could just cut him off like that? No way. He shoved his phone in his pocket and left the apartment, not caring that he looked awful and that anybody could see him. Many people did, it seemed the whole town was mad at him for abandoning Emma and he didn't blame them. He just ignored any remarks they made and plowed on towards the house they shared, it actually wasn't that far from Smee's apartment.
"Swan. It's Killian. Open up." He said after no success from the doorbell. Still nothing. "Emma. Come on, love." Silence. Her bug was in the driveway, she was home. "Damnit Emma!" He pounded on the door, losing patience.
He finally decided he had enough of her ignoring him and simply kicked his booted foot into the door, not even checking the knob to see if it had been unlocked. The door opened with a crash and slammed against the wall. It was 2 in the afternoon, no way was she still sleeping so she was just ignoring him.
"Emma!" He shouted. He searched the basement and ground floor, no evidence of Emma. As he ascended the stairs he felt the feeling of worry start to grow. "Swan, where have you gone?" He looked in their bedroom and her bed looked freshly made, like it hadn't been slept in in a while. He checked their bathroom, Henry's bedroom, the other upstairs bathroom. Nothing.
Then he finally noticed the half open door to the nursery. Killian walked towards it and opened the door a bit more. He was speechless, she had finished it. The gold walls went with the accents on the cribs, the room seemed neatly decided in half with almost complete symmetry. A rocking chair sat in between the cribs, already looking warn in. Emma's baby blanket and a matching one sat draped over the edge of each crib. There was a large white rug taking up most of the room, looking as soft as can be against the dark wood floors.
He didn't see Emma but he saw something strange to the right side of the door near the edge of the rug. It looked like a puddle of something but it was dry. Dried blood. He walked farther into the room and whipped around to see Emma. She was lying perfectly still on the ground, hidden by the door. She had dried blood all over her hand and on the floor. She was only in pajamas, tightly curled up to keep herself warm. Her left hand rested on her belly while the other one was under her head as a pillow. She was pale and thin. The only hint that she was alive was her chest steadily rising and falling.
"Emma!" Killian cried and dropped to the ground next to her, pulling her into his lap. He touched her hands and face and spoke to her, sometimes even shouting but she still didn't wake up.
The hospital, she needed the hospital. And David had a vehicle, he could get them there. Killian kept one arm around Emma and reached into his pocket for his phone, his hands shaking. After 2 rings, David rejected his call. He tried three more times. Against and again and again he was sent to voice mail. He would answer Emma's call. Killian carefully reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone. Luckily he knew how hers worked and what her passcode was, their wedding date. If she hadn't changed it.
"Hey Emma." David sounded surprised when he answered the call.
"It's not Emma. Something is wrong, we need to get her to the hospital." Killian was on the verge of tears, he hadn't been this afraid since he thought she was going to be lost to the sorcerer's hat.
"Hook. We're on our way, we'll be there in 5 minutes tops. What happened? What's wrong?" Charming demanded.
"I don't bloody know! She didn't answer her phone so I came to confront her and found her on the ground in the babe's room." Killian kept the phone between his ear and his shoulder as he carefully picked Emma up and slowly made his way downstairs, taking great care not to hit anything. Emma was still out, only moving slightly to turn more into his chest when he picked her up.
"Alright we're here. I'll come in and get her."
"No need Prince Charming, I've got her." Hook practically snarled at him before letting the phone fall backwards and hit the ground. He walked through the still wide open door with her.
David ran around the truck and opened the door for him, not saying anything. When Hook got into the cramped truck and settled Emma onto his lap so they would all fit, David carefully closed the door and ran back to the drivers side.
"My poor baby." Snow whispered from her spot in the center of the truck, not even a real seat but she had refused to be left behind. She stroked Emma's hair and started to silently cry.
"This all your fault. Always sticking your damn noses where they don't belong but your own bloody daughter clearly needed help and you did nothing!" Hook growled and tightened his grip on Emma as her head lolled into his neck.
"Don't you dare blame us!" Snow snapped. "I talked to her just yesterday morning and she sounded like she always did. Upset and lonely but certainly not on the verge of doing whatever it is she did and passing out!" She gestured wildly to Emma's injured hand that rested in her lap.
"Watch it!" Hook hissed when David took a turn much too fast.
"Shut the hell up, pirate. I am trying to get to the hospital as fast as I can."
They kept an angry and anxious silence for the rest of the ride to the hospital, the only sound being the quiet whispering of Killian as he profusely apologized to Emma. When they arrived, it turned out that Mary Margaret had already called Whale and he was prepared with nurses to care for Emma immediately.
"Mr. Jones you have to put her down on the bed." A nurse urged him, everybody was looking at him expectantly. But all he did was tighten his grip.
"Put her down Hook or they can't help her!" David shouted. Hook reluctantly placed Emma on the bed, her hand tried to grip the lapel on his jacket but she was pulled away. Killian tried to follow her but a large male nurse got in his way.
"Hook, you can't go in there with her. None of us can." Mary Margret said sadly. Hook spun on her and got into her face, their 5 inch height difference making him seem more intimidating.
"She needs me damnit!" He hissed.
David pushed him back, hard. "Get away from my wife before I kill you."
