"Don't give up."
Those were the words that she had imprinted on her heart and kept on following them for almost five months.
Job, money, friends, she had everything that she had once cried for and she was climbing the ladders to success.
Anora was a renowned fashion designer now, and she had achieved so much since the past few months that she found it hard to believe. Not only did she achieve all this, but her attitude and behavior had also changed so much that she could not recognise herself, but it was all for good.
It was another day for her, another front page of the magazine was dedicated to her new designs and another eager client was waiting to talk to her.
"Send him in." She ordered her assistant, who readily rushed out of her office.
She sipped her coffee, tapping the pencil on her notebook which was placed in front of her and soon the door was pushed open from the other side.
Her eyes widened upon the sight of her client and she immediately stood up.
"Conor!" Anora gasped with a flustered smile stuck on her face. Even though she had not seen him for five months, she held a strong feeling for him because he was the one who had saved her when she was sinking. His words were the ones which she had given the utmost importance to and if he was not there, she would have never received a successful position in life.
"Anora McNair, look at you climbing these ladders and receiving all the fame." He chuckled, walking into the room with his arms open wide.
She let out a joyous laugh as she jogged towards him and threw her arms around him without thinking for once. He had said that she would never see him and she thought that he was lost, but it was all wrong.
Conor wrapped his arms around her and snuggled her gently. "How have you been?"
"Very well." She pulled back and gestured him to sit on the couch.
He did so and she placed herself beside him.
"Conor, I am finding it hard to believe that you are actually here. You do not even know how thankful I am to you."
"Thankful? I have done nothing. I saw you rising and I thought I might pay a visit. Did you learn something about life now?"
"A great deal. People should be treated like a piece of shit underneath your foot. That is how a person can become successful. In our world, only those who treat people in such manner are comfortable and satisfied with everything. A good person never gets anything he wishes for. Conor, your words made me look at the world through a different angle. They strengthened me. They brought me back up when I was sinking, when I was taking my last few breaths. You disappeared but you remained in my memory. Your words were tattooed on my heart and here I am now."
Conor nodded his head and then his eyes trailed off to her hand to spot the ring on her finger. "I see you are married. Do you treat him the same way?"
"Engaged actually, and yes. I think I do. He is a good man with a weird culture, thinking it would bring a bad luck if the couple doesn't wear engagement rings. However I never trust anyone anymore." She stretched out her fingers to stare at her diamond ring, shining brightly and beautifully.
He chuckled a little and she looked at him bewilderedly.
"Some people in this world are sweet and you should treat them nicely. Mark my words. Anyhow, the real reason why I am here is because I need an outstanding outfit for myself since I will be attending an award ceremony tomorrow. Is it going to be much of a burden?"
"Not at all. What type of design would you like? Take a look at my catalogue." Anora jumped up enthusiastically and grabbed her catalogue.
She handed it to Conor who went through it and was impressed with each and every design but one stood out the most for him amongst the others.
"How can you choose this one? It would not suit you." She stared at the design with her lips slightly twitching.
"It is different and to be best in the world, I have to different. This design is my final choice and believe me, it would look great."
"Alright then." She marked it with a pen and kept the catalogue back on the shelf.
"Come have a drink with me tonight." Conor got on his feet and fixed his beanie. "There is a great bar behind this building. Forgot the name but it is cool. Meet me there at eight."
Anora nodded her head with a huge smirk as he winked at her and waved a goodbye. She felt so hearty after seeing her hero.
