"Mr and Mrs Rutherford? You must be Aria's parents." Conor converged on the people who walked into the hospital.
The situation was such that Conor was completely helpless and so, he contacted his agent to find out about the Rutherfords. He did so, and he received their contact number. Thus, he did not hesitate to call upon them. It was their right to be next to their daughter in her time of difficulty.
"Where is our daughter? What happened to her? We have been trying to find her for months!" Mrs Rutherford shouted but Mr Rutherford held her close so that he could support her and calm her down.
"She was stabbed in her chest. The ultimate loss of blood caused all this. She can't breathe but the doctors are doing their best." He reassured them even though he was not certain himself.
They waited for the next few hours, Mrs Rutherford crying miserably and her husband gently hugging her to ease her. Conor examined the whole scenario with thoughts scattered around his mind. This incident, even though it had its own negative sentiments, it had made him vulnerable to any kind of other pain in the world because the severity of this was a lot more than anything one could suffer.
The doors flew open and a doctor, followed by the nurse, proceeded towards the lot which was waiting for the news of their Aria.
"She is awake and she is asking for her parents." The doctor removed the gloves and rubbed the back of her neck in relief.
Mr and Mrs Rutherford were relieved greatly and they rushed into the room without waiting for Conor. He, however, slowly followed them and stood in the corner of the room, watching the reunion of their family.
"Mother! Father!" Aria hugged them ever so lovingly. She cried tears which highlighted her affection for them and her face was lit up so bright that all one could see on her face was happiness. Then, her eyes met Conor's. They stared at each other for one long minute. Silence fell and she finally raised the question; "who is that man in the corner?"
"Aria?" His voice trembled.
"Who are you sir?"
"Love, he saved you." Mrs Rutherford commented.
"Oh!" She smiled. "Thank you so much sir."
"No, Aria. This is wrong. What is the last thing you remember?" Conor dashed towards her and held her hands, hoping it would make her remember everything.
But he was wrong. She pulled back her hands and she furrowed before recalling everything. "I was sitting with my mother. She was telling me I should be grateful for what I have got."
His heart dropped down. It became a burden on him, making his whole body feel heavy. He turned pale, his lips shivering. He had lost his love once again. Turning around, he left the room and out he went of the hospital. He was senseless and emotionless.
Just as everything had became worse, tiny drops of rain had started to fall from the sky to worsen everything further. Gradually, the rain increased and the raindrops had become Conor's companions who cried along with him. They blemished his tears so that the world could not see their mighty King weeping. Love had broken the King and love had defeated him. He readily accepted the defeat.
