this is Ashton and Michael

**december 29th**

*calum's pov*

Right now is the happiest I've ever been in my life. I am at such a good point in my life and I couldnt be happier. Ainslee makes me so happy.

I take out my computer while Ainslee does her chores downstairs. I open up spotify and decide to just jam out to some music. I cant listen to All Time Low right now because then I will cry. I will cry because I miss the concert. It was such a good concert, damn.

As soon as I open spotify, Ainslee walks in with a small smile set on her face. God, she looks beautiful even when she is doing something as simple as walking. She sits down next to me and lays her head on my shoulder. She is so warm. I rest my head on top of hers with a big smile on my face.

Out of no where, I get a skype call. I want to ignore it, but, Ainslee tells me to answer it. I click the 'answer' button and see 2 faces pop up on my screen. Ashton and Michael! My best friends. Well, Luke isnt there, but I know exactly why he isnt there.

"Hey Calum, buddy!" Michael and Ashton say in harmony.

"Aw, are these your best friends?" Ainslee asks, in the most adorable voice.

"Ye-" I get cut off by Michael screaming.

"Oh my gosh! You're Ainslee! The one Calum is head over heels for." Michael yells out. Ashton puts a hand over Michael's mouth and flicks his head. Ainslee laughs uncomfortably next to me.

"You dont say that to someone the first time you meet them, you idiot." Ashton lectures, turning his head to the camera and putting on a sweet smile for Ainslee. "Dont mind Michael, he can be a real idiot sometimes."

"All of the time." I correct. "So, is Luke where I think he is?"

Ashton sighs and rolls his eyes. "Yeah, he's high off his mind with his girlfriend. I dont know what happened to him, man."

"It was his choice, we cant really do anything, I guess." I tell them.

"So, you guys are Michael and Ashton?" Ainslee asks, awkwardly. She's so cute.

"Yep, that's us!" Michael says, happily. "And you're Ainslee, Calum's best friend pen pal?"

"Girlfriend." I correct them, putting my head down awkwardly.

They are going to be so mad that I didnt tell them yet. I tell them everything. It's just that this past week and a half has been busy and crazy. I've basically forgotten about them. But, I wont tell them that part.

"Oh! Calum seems to have not told you that I guess." Ainslee says, with a confused look on her face.

"Yeah! He seems to have forgotten to tell us that part." Michael says, clearing his throat. Ashton and Michael both look me straight in the eye.

"Oops?" I say, more like a question.

"Oops my ass-" Michael starts, but gets cut off by Ashton yelling.

"Hey, dont swear!" Ashton yells at Michael, slapping him on his arm. Ouch, that had to hurt. "How long have you two been together?"

"Officially; two days. But we had our first on christmas day, under the mistletoe." I tell them, winking at Ainslee.

"Aw, that's so disgustingly cheesey but so damn cute!" Ashton shrieks like a little girl. "Hey, do you guys wanna hear a story?" Michael and I groan, already knowing what Ashton is going to say.

"No, please no-" Michael and I are cut off by Ashton. Ainslee is just smiling like a cute kitten.

"So, it all started a hot, australian day. I was offered a job at KFC. I went in and I was everyone's favorite. I got 25 dollar tips because everyone loved me so much! KFC employees were jealous of my ability to be that amazing at my job. I shouldve gotten like a Grammy for the best KFC employee in the universe." I look over to Ainslee who is still smiling. Under that smile, she is annoyed. She is too nice to people to show that she is annoyed with them. "Also, I got-" Michael and I cut Ashton off, knowing the next line by heart.

"Employee of the month every single month of the year for two years straight." We groan out. Ainslee is just chuckling beside me, amused at this situation.

"Hey guys, we're gonna go." I tell them. "I love you! Bye!"

"Bye! Remember to use condo-"

I quickly end the Skype call and put my computer screen down. Right as I do that, I get a call. I look down at my phone; it's my mom. Why is my mom calling me?

"Hey, I'll be right back, my mom is calling me." I tell Ainslee, quickly pecking her lips. I run down the stairs and go out the front door to get better connection.

I accept the call and put my phone to my ear. "Hey, mum! What's the call for?" I ask.

"Nice to know you miss me, Cal." She replies in a sarcastic tone.

"Of course I miss you mummy." I assure her. I'm a huge momma's boy; the biggest there is. Luke used to be the biggest but that changed when he changed.

"I need to tell you something and you're not going to like it." My mum says. Suddenly, my knees weaken, scared of what she is about to tell me. There is a few seconds of silence until I talk.

"What, mom? You're scaring me."

She is silent for about twenty seconds until she finally speaks up. The next words that fall out of her mouth kill me. My heart drops to the pit of my stomach. My throat becomes dry. My eyes start to burn because of the tears I am holding back. And my knees weaken.

I was not expecting those words to come out of her mouth, at all.
