I was living with Dr. Death and Noir for almost a month now. People would come and go, and he always provided them with temporary hospitality. When he wasn't carrying for others or broadcasting his evening radio show, he showed me how to survive in the harsh desert conditions. It's odd; under all the black he wore, he was caring and understanding. He told me his stories of survival and hardships in the, as he called it, 'wretched Battery City.'
He always said, "I'd never want to change my past, though. Sure, all of this is very tough, but I mean... the sun always sets and it always rises. With that, comes new opportunities. My past was bad, sure, but with each passing day, I was faced with new challenges, new thoughts, new obstacles, and most of all, new opportunities. I take a leap of faith with every opportunity I get. That's how I think everybody should view life; it's an opportunity that I'm not willing to pass up on."
With that, I felt as if I was seeing the world through a new lens. Maybe this wasteland isn't so bad after all...------------------------------------------------------
