They stared at the sky until Raven said, "Well, is anybody in shock?"
"Ummm..." Kat said
"Thought so," she snapped.
"The gas is gone," Ivy said, pointing at the broken window.
They all turned to look through to window. Then Raven saw something on the floor. A piece of crumpled brown parchment.
She crawled in through the window and picked it up.
When she looked at it she found that it was a map of their home state, Virginia. It showed their school marked with an X and something in the woods marked with a circle. She guessed that the x stood for "target" but what did the circle stand for? Probably their base or something.
She told the others her theory and her plan, "We can walk there, the average person walks about three miles per hour, and it's about 30 miles from here, and if we walk for about four hours a day it'll take about three days to get there."
"How in the world did you calculate that?" Ivy asked.
"Three miles per hour times four hours a day is twelve miles in four hours, which is twelve miles a day. Then you have thirty miles divided by twelve miles is two and a half days, which is about three,"she explained, then quickly added, "does that make any sense?"
"Yeah," Caiden said.
"But how are we going to actually fight our way through?" Isaac asked.
"Yeah, we're just sixth graders," Kat said, "how will we stand a chance?"
"Well, I have some experience with swordplay and fighting with a bo staff," Raven said, "Caiden knows some stuff with knives, Isaac did fencing, Kat knows gymnastics and can just punch, kick, and hit, and Ivy knows karate. We should go to mine, Ivy's and Kat's room to get situated."
When they all got to the dorm room Raven sat down at her desk below her bed.
"What are you thinking?"
"We can steal some supplies from the school and leave to get our friends," Raven said.
"But we'll be seen," Isaac told her.
"Yeah, I'm working on that."
"We could turn out the power," Caiden suggested.
"But it's still bright out," Kat reminded him.
"Wait," Ivy said, "That might work, most of the rooms don't have windows.
"Good, it's settled, then," Raven said.
Raven told everyone her plan.
"Okay, so me and Caiden—Caiden and I, sorry, will get food and a some knives from the cafeteria. You three get a tent and cooler from the Nature Day storage, and drop it off in our room, then get two fencing swords from the fencing club room. After that we can meet back here and start packing."
They ran to the school and made a beeline for the generator. The they ran around turning out the power for each part of the school.
They split up to find what they needed to get.
They ran through the shops whisking up food and knives from behind shops, making all of the workers and other classes panic and eventually start a food fight. Sadly they were not able to participate
Once they got out of the cafeteria they ran back to the girls' dorm room.
When they got to the dorm they found that the tent and cooler was already on the floor. Then they sorted out the things that they picked up.
They got five personal pizzas from the Pizza Hut, three burgers from the McDonalds, a box of mini muffins from the Starbucks, three to-go mac and cheese boxes from the Panera, some oranges, about a billion bottles of juice, water, milk, and soda, and five bags of chips.
Then Ivy, Kat and Isaac burst into the room carrying a deep wagon with four fencing swords in it.
"Good, let's start packing," Raven said. Then she turned to the boys and said, "Get everything that you think you'll need."
"Same for us," she said to the other girls. Then they started rummaging through their room for anything that could be useful.
When they found all of the things that they needed they got their backpacks and started packing.
After they finished packing their supplies they lined the bottom of the wagon with five small pillows and four blankets. Then they put all of the food in the cooler and put it in the wagon.
That's when the boys walked in with their backpacks ready, saying, "You guys ready?"
"Yeah we're ready," Ivy said.
"Ready or not, here we come" Raven muttered.
