Stories of Five Words

1 0 1

You know me too well.
You said you loved me.
You ripped out my heart.
You knew it would hurt.

You took all I had.
Now I want to disappear.
But I won't do that.
I know better than that.

I can't believe you lied.
I'm so ashamed of you.
But you've taught me something.
You just weren't the one.

Take one look at me.
This is who I am.
I won't be held back.
My fire is burning brighter.

You've taught me to ask.
Why did I want this?
Must I feel this pain?
Will it ever be over?

The answer is really simple.
It's already said and done,
And now I am back.
I am better than ever.

You've taught me to write.
Now I can express myself.
Now I'm not weighed down.
I'm free from your expectations.

I've found people who understand.
We stand together as one.
We are one strong voice.
We speak out against you.

I just have to say,
I've found who I am.
I'm a writer, a poet.
I'm not ashamed of that.

I'll repeat myself once more.
I've found who I am.
I'm a writer, a poet.
I'm not ashamed of that.
