Chapter 9

“So what’s your boss like?” Kyle inquired as they passed another corridor.

Ein grinned proudly. “Awesome and cool! He’s the strongest here.”

Raising his eyebrow, Luke looked the elf. Lynx smiled. “You could say he is…exigent and charismatic. In my opinion he is a noble man but I think you two should decide after you meet him.”

Kyle hummed in thought then frowned slightly. “Is he the leader of the Order or just this place?”

Ein titled her head. “A little of both I guess. He is one of the leaders of the Order and the head of this place.”

Frowning slightly Luke asked, “Why do you have many leaders, surely one is enough?”

“Equality. As I have said before there are many creatures in this world and this Order is mixed with a variety of them. So we have many leaders of different kinds to share the equal power and responsibilities of being chosen as the leader.” Lynx explained.

The boys nodded. Kyle inquired, “How many leaders do you guys have? Are they just chosen by vote or something?”

Ein answered. “Seven all in all. They were chosen because of their own abilities, skills and talents. They are powerful in their own right.”

She finished as Lynx stopped in front of a large wooden doors, making them stop. He looked back and nodded then knocked lightly, waiting.

“Come in.”

Opening the door, Lynx entered followed by a smiling Ein. Kyle and Luke shared a glance then stepped in. The room was luxuriously spacious. Shelves of books and what seems to be scrolls were placed against the walls, a smooth and soft fur carpet covered the floor, a soothing shade of cream covered the walls, a bright and intricate chandelier hanged on the ceiling. In front of the door, they were a set of black leather chairs and a wooden oak table, behind it was a blazing hearth. The pillars that supports the mansion was carved in designs, on the other side there was a large window with the exquisite view of the tranquil woods being illuminated by the moon light. But Kyle’s and Luke’s attention was only directed at the person who was sitting in front of them.

Seated in his black leather chair he regarded them silently. He was wearing an expensive onyx trench coat over a white button up shirt with a black tie, black tight pants and black leather boots. His form was outlined with the flames from the fireplace behind him, making him look more conspicuous. With his appearance, the lights from the hearth and the very air around him that demands attention, he was the picture of an able leader. The boys tensed as they stood straighter under his searching gaze.

Kyle frowned at the man before him, he had to admit he was slightly envious of the man's appearance.

He looks to be in his mid-twenties. His features were sharp and striking, his eyes were an interesting shade of bond blue, and lips formed a straight line, sharp jaws and chiseled cheeks. Silky shade of metallic gold hair that was plaited loosely starting at the back of his neck complemented his face.

Lynx coughed politely making the man’s gaze directed on him. “Van, we brought them as you’ve requested,” he then gestured at them saying, “Kyle Chase and Luke Cross.”

The man who is now known as Van nodded slowly then stood up, standing at an impressive height. He walked forward coolly then stopping just in front of the boys, smiling slightly as his eyes softened making him look more approachable. “Evening Mr. Chase , Mr. Cross. I am Van de Moivre, I do hope you were both informed about the creature that attacked you.”
