Chapter 10
“Choose what interest you,” Van stated.
The boys looked around, shocked and awed at the variety of weapons upon them. They were in the arsenal where Van lead them, inside there were weapons of all kind displayed, hanged and placed at the table.
“Wow!” breathed Kyle, his eyes wondering from one weapon to another.
Luke stepped near the table, picking up a steeled tonfa examining it. “Anything?”
“Yes but choose quickly. We need to help defend this place.”
The boys nodded and started to examine the weapons, quickly. Kyle headed to the where the swords were hanged on the wall.
There’s too many, Kyle thought as his eyes darted from sword to sword. Growing frustrated he clenched his jaw slightly then something caught his eyes. Instinctively he wrapped his hand around the hilt, unsheathing it. The sword glinted in the light as though brand new, the hilt was a shade of gold, spiral lines ran overlapping at one another making some sort of runes were carved around the hilt. The runes were crafted so skillfully as if it was merely drawn there, a part of it. It fitted his hand perfectly. He looked at it appreciatively, drawn by it.
“It seems both of you are done,” Van nodded then ordered, “Head out.”
He turned around and ran. The boys followed hurriedly. As they ran Kyle noticed Luke’s weapon, a black gun, the same shade as his eyes. The gun was decorated with runes, like his sword, but it was painted in red contrasting the color of the gun.
“A gun?” Kyle asked. He really thought Luke would choose the tonfa.
Luke shrugged. “It’s seems like the best choice.”
Kyle frowned, confused. Seeing the frown, Luke pointed his injured shoulder.
It would be hard using close range weapons.”
Kyle opened his mouth in realization. “Oh.”
They were already at the lobby when Van spoke to them seriously, “Don’t let your guard down, even for a single moment.
They both nodded acknowledgement. “Anything else?” Luke inquired.
“Yes…Don’t hesitate to kill.” Van banged the door open and was off.
They stood frozen at the sight that greeted them. There were about a hundred orcs fighting, few of them were sprawled on the ground, lifeless. The orcs were of all kinds fighting with their fists, axes and swords. The only good thing was that peoples, who they assumed are members of The Order, were killing them as much as possible.
Kyle muttered, “What did I do to deserve this?”
“For being an idiot,” Luke deadpanned.
Kyle glared slightly. “Really? Did you have to answer that?”
Shrugging, Luke raised his gun and aimed at the orc charging at them ready to kill. “Quit talking Kyle,” he pulled his finger on the trigger, “And start fighting.”
The bullet hit the middle of its eyes, immediately killing it. Luke smirked smugly. Kyle blinked, shocked. “Where the hell did you learn to shoot like that?”
His smirk deepened. “Father had a lot of spare time.”
Kyle shook his head slowly. “You both are crazy,” he shivered suddenly, “I don’t even want to know what he teaches you beside that…”
Luke raised his brow. “Oh?”
He then kicked Kyle’s back hard making him stumble. “Be useful and fight.”
Kyle got his balance then turned around glaring. He mocked bowed and drawled, “As you wish, Your Ass-ness.”
Without waiting for the reply, he turned around and took off. His heart thumped wildly as he entered the battlefield. Kyle saw an orc who’s back he faced. He ran gripping his sword tightly and raised it. As the orc turned around Kyle brought down the sword, severing its head. A triumph smile painted his face then his body suddenly jerked left, just in time evading a lethal strike. Instincts suddenly taking over, Kyle turned swiftly in his place and severed its arm. It let out a scream of agony and with its remaining arm made a move to crush him. He ducked then cut off his remaining arm; it raised its head as another scream emerged. Using the advantage, he stepped closer and beheaded it.
Gasping slightly he continued to kill, letting his instincts take over. As he killed another orc he saw a girl to occupied fighting a few enemies that she hasn’t noticed the one behind her, ready to strike. His eyes widened. He raced over silently praying that he’ll make it in time. Finally killing her enemies, she tensed when she heard a grunt behind her. She spun around making a move to defend, but she was too late as the axe was already brought down. She closed her eyes anticipating pain, but none came. Confused, she opened her eyes and saw the blade of the axe mere inches to her face.
Kyle gritted his teeth at the force of the blow when he halts it. He exerted pressure at his sword then kicked the dirt below to its eyes. Rendered blind it backed away while swing its axe wildly. He shot forward; easily dodging the strikes then killed it.
He panted deeply. He suddenly heard the shooting sounds of a gun, and headed to it, hoping to see how Luke’s doing. He killed orcs as he ran, one was able to cut his arm deeply. Hissing in pain he killed the orc. As the sound grew nearer he heard Ein’s voice cackling loudly. He frowned fastening his pace. The sight made him froze in place as he took in what he saw.
Ein’s eyes gleamed and grinned psychotically as she killed orcs with her scythe. Her scythe was a shade of black and red which she kept swinging. Blood splattered her face and clothes as she cackled sadistically. “Die you fools! Feel the pain and suffer! Fufufu...Blood! Fufufu…” Under the moonlight, she looked like a reaper, a bloodthirsty, dangerous, psychotic reaper.
Kyle stood there eyes wide. “What…the hell?”
A scream followed by a thud was heard behind him. Turning around he saw a dead orc in his hand a rather big club. He paled at how close he was to death if luke didn’t missed.
“Did you want to die standing there like that, you fool?”
Turning around he saw Luke aiming his gun behind him. Kyle shook his head then pointed at Ein, who was still killing orcs maniacally. “W-what the...”
Luke grimaced slightly. “Don’t ask.”
“KYLE!”
Kyle turned. Ein was smirking darkly holding blood coated scythe, covered in blood. Her eyes were gleaming in uncontrollable bloodlust and sadistic pleasure. He shuddered unnoticeably, stiffening slightly. “Y-yeah?” He silently cursed himself for stammering.
Her smirk morphed into a warm smile. Kyle blinked at the sudden change.
“Glad to see your alive!” she said then smirked darkly, “Want to help me make them suffer?”
“Uh…no.”
She shrugged killing another one. “Your loss. Au revoir!” She spun around and left, cackling loudly as she killed more orcs.
Kyle blinked owlishly, shook his head and continued fighting. He shouted to Luke. “Now that’s what I call bipolar.”
Luke scoffed as he brought down three orcs. “Insane and retarded, more like it.”
