Chapter 11
“What the hell happened to you?”
Kyle shrugged.
“Got into a fight?” another voice inquired.
Kyle remembered what happened last night, and smiled slightly. “You could say that.”
They nodded then left him. Kyle slumped in his seat grimacing a little, as he waited for class. His body ached, and was covered with a few bruises and cuts that were covered with his hoodie. His forehead was wrapped around with bandages and also his chest.
The bell rang. Kyle looked around and saw that Luke’s seat was still empty. He frowned worriedly as class started.
“Class, open your book to pa-”
A knock on the door cut her off, then the door opened. The class looked at the visitor with wide eyes, surprised. Kyle couldn’t blame them since unfortunately; Luke has received more injuries than him. Luke’s forehead, arms and hands covered with bandages. His left cheek was covered with a large bruise, which was more pronounced since he was paler that usual. He looked like he was hit by a truck.
“What happened to you?” the teacher exclaimed.
Luke deadpanned. “I tripped.”
The class sweet dropped, faces showed disbelief, some almost fell from their seats.
Getting a hold of herself, Ms.Tan asked. “And why were you late? You’re late for 3 hours.”
Luke looked at her blankly for a moment then deadpanned. “I was lost in the road of life.”
Pregnant silence filled the room, as a few students fell from the chair as they looked at Luke. Calmly, Luke walked to his seat and took out his book. He looked up and raised his brow to the class, who were still staring at him. “Is something wrong?”
They snapped out of it then averted their eyes. The class continued as Luke looked at Kyle who was shook his head incredulously. Luke gave an amused smirk which Kyle replied with a roll of eyes, then turned to the teacher.
“Really? Tripped, road of life? That’s your explanation.” Kyle said as they walked.
Luke shrugged. “It was amusing seeing their reactions.”
Kyle rolled his eyes then eyed Luke’s injuries. “Are you alright?”
“I’ll live. The biggest damage was my pride. I can’t stand that you have less injuries.”
“Since I’m awesome! Hehehe…”
They were headed to the Order with more caution than before. They surveyed the area as they talked casually.
Kyle sighed. “I don’t understand what they did to them. Hell! They didn’t even bat an eye!”
Luke shrugged. “Magic? Hypnothisism? Compulsion? I don’t know what they did to our parents but it worked. They thought we were victims of…a psychological serial killer, who injured us. And fortunately before he was planning his last strike, he tripped and accidentally killed himself,” his brow twitched at the absurdity of it and stated, “It was ludicrous, absurd and completely illogical, yet…”
Kyle nodded agreeing. “Magic works in mysterious way... undeniably crap and full of bull, but still mysterious.”
“Hey guys!”
They looked ahead and saw Ein waving her arm wildly. They walked next to her and greeted her.
“Good afternoon, Kyle, Luke.” A soft voice greeted.
